RARE RUSSIAN JET SET TO BE TSAR OF THE SHOW We are delighted to be able to confirm that a state-of-the-art combat jet used to train Russian Air Force pilots will be flying at this summer's Royal International Air Tattoo. To have such a rare Russian aircraft display is quite a coup and we know how much our visitors enjoy seeing Russian aircraft, and Russian-built aircraft, so we have been working really hard to achieve this since last year's show. It will be the FIRST TIME the Yak-130 'Mitten' has displayed outside of Russia and will be in light attack configuration with a full complement of weapons. The Yak-130, from the Irkut Corporation based in Moscow, is a two-seat, subsonic jet trainer/light attack aircraft and first entered service with the Russian Air Force in 2010. The aircraft can replicate the characteristics of the latest generation fighters and carries a variety of air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry. As we didn't have official confirmation that this rare Russian aircraft would be taking part in this summer's show until now, we have extended our Earlybird ticket offer to next Wednesday - April 11. So you can still see this great aircraft and lots more at only £34 and no booking fee. Book NOW and don't miss out!

According to this months LAAS Magazine RIAT have been in talks with South Korea re bringing an Asian aerobatic team to the Tattoo. Apparently the talks have been very productive, with no apparent hurdles identified. Happy Days Bob

Things are now getting slightly exciting, got this via an email today...................
Black Eagles to Soar into History Books with Air Tattoo Display Don't miss history in the making when South Korea's rarely seen Black Eagles Aerobatic Display Team perform in Europe for the first time - at the Royal International Air Tattoo. The first ever aerobatic display team from Asia to perform in Europe will take to the skies at RAF Fairford on July 7-8, in eight T-50 'Golden Eagle' supersonic light-trainer aircraft. A huge amount of work has gone into securing their participation and the visit is the culmination of more than 20 years' planning as we first contacted the Republic of Korea's London embassy in the mid-1980s! In order to get the aircraft – 10 in total, including two spares – they will have to be dismantled in Asia and flown the 5,000 mile journey in a fleet of large transport aircraft before being reassembled in the UK.
This is not as odd as it sounds, the Japanese "Blue Impulse" team were at the USAF 50th anniversary airshow back in 1997, they arrived via air as I saw them a few days later at North Island NAS, arriving to be dismantled for shipment home!!!!
