I have been asked to post the followng on behalf of the group - "2012 is the 50th anniversary of the Northern Aircraft Preservation Society (NAPS)/The Aeroplane Collection (TAC) and to commemorate this great achievement an ‘Aviation Day’ is being organised at the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester on the 23rd June. The event will take place in the Dalton & Joules Suite on the 2nd floor of the Great Western Warehouse. We would like to invite all members past and present to these celebrations. The itinerary for the day is - 1000 Museum opens (Entrance to the Museum is free) & guests arrive. 1030 Registration and Coffee First Speaker from The Aeroplane Collection 1100 50 years retrospective 1135 Early Days – ex. Members recollections. 1205 Aircraft projects and the future. 1225 Prize Draw 1230 Lunch - served in the restaurant on the first floor or alternatively snacks in Recharge on the ground floor. 1330 Robby Robinson – Chief Test Pilot A.V.Roe speaking about AVRO 1500 TAC Aircraft at MOSI – in the Air & Space Gallery. 1600 Coffee in the Friends Centre in the Air & Space Gallery. Event and Museum closes 1700 hours Cost of food by guest - car parking on site is £5.00 all day For anyone staying in the area overnight there will be tours of TACs current aircraft at Hooton Park available on the Sunday from 10am.
