Interesting that Argonaut G-ALHI is flying an ensign from the cockpit window. Must be some special occasion/visitor.

All these images, including the original KLM are of the original "temporary" Heathrow north-side terminal alongside the A4 road. It was in use 1946 to 1962 when long haul flights finally moved to the new T3 in the centre. The flag is the British Civil Air Ensign and it was the practice in the the 50s for some airlines to fly this flag of the destination country when landing.
