With me now located abroad, can anyone supply me with any sort of list from the visit. We flew in an Air France B727 from Heathrow I think it was sometime around 1971.

Paul,
First there is a need to tie-down the year with certainty.
My first year to Paris Salon with MAS was 1973 by Court Line Tristar, which involved quite a number of MAS members on a several one-day trips from Liverpool via Luton. My next was 1977 from Manchester, out by Air France Boeing 707 (substituting for the normal caravelle due load), two nights in Paris then back CdG-LGW by B.Cal BAC.1-11 and LGW-MAN by BIA Dart Herald. From memory there were several car loads of us that year driving around Paris. So the two years I have personal records for don't match.
A look in the MAS Flypast magazines are less help than I thought they would be. Unsure just when Farnborough/Paris started to alternate, however don't find any Paris trips for the even years.
1969 was the year of the Phoenix Airways Skyvan charter from Liverpool that eventually became a Dove from Liverpool and an Islander from Thruxton. There are other threads regarding these charters on the forum. Certainly not the year we are looking for though!
1971 a two day trip by air, (but no mention of airport/airline/types), using self-drive hire cars in Paris; a five day camping trip by minibus; a one day from Liverpool in a chartered aircraft (Aztec?). No post-event details or logs published in Flypast.
1973 Court Line BAC.1-11 on May 30th and Court Line Tristar on Friday 1st June. Both day trips Luton-Le Bourget. A list of participant aircraft published in Flypast for the Friday.
1975 MAS trip routed outbound on Air France Boeing 727 F-BPJQ LHR-CdG at 0730; return Orly to LHR in Airbus F-BVGB. List of participant aircraft seen was published in Flypast.
1977 - the MAS trip departed from Manchester, as detailed in the initial paragraph.
Back to you Paul. Which year is most likely from the two candidates? Was it for certain 1971 (despite the lack of confirming detail), or could it have been 1975 (where at least part of the detail certainly fits your recollections)? If it was 1975, do PM me your e-mail and I'll copy the Flypast lists to you. If 1971 then hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Hi. This is not connected to the above posts but is similar. On the 27th Oct 1973 we went on a MAS Cambrian Viscount flight from Speke up the coast to Carlisle and back over the lakes to Speke. Flight number CS9043 ( I still have the rather large tickets). Can anybody Identify the Viscount that was used ? TIA Groth.

Groth, Although I was not involved, this one is straightforward, the answer is G-AOYI. There is a one and a half side report on the flight in Flypast - if you would like me to scan it and forward as an e-mail attachment, do PM me with your e-mail address. Brian. As the aircraft registration could match, and the prints were in a box of MAS clubroom era photos, likely photos of the flight being loaded.

Hi Paul,
As an occasional visitor to this forum, I noticed your post regarding the MAS Paris Airshow trip. If it was 1971, I was on a trip flying from Heathrow to Orly and back over a weekend. We flew on an Air France Boeing 727 (F-BPJJ outward bound) and I have a poorish quality photograph of this at Heathrow. I have a few other basic photographs taken at the show but am not familiar with how to post these.
Hope this helps.
Peter

Hi everyone, thank you for replying. I live in Canada now.
Peter, we were on that same flight.
I travelled on that Air France Boeing 727 from Heathrow with the group. We visited the show at Le Bourget we also went to the ga airport of Issy.
If anyone has any info or a list of aircraft from that show, it would really help me.

CanUK01,
Really glad we have the year definitely sorted so easily - spot on with your original estimate! Welcome to, to Peter Brack as a posting member, thank you for your immediate response with interesting information.
Do hope that someone else on that 1971 Paris Air Salon trip can respond with a log of what was seen. Just a shame that the MSAE 'Flypast' editor of the time choose not to follow-up with a report on that particular MAS trip. However, I do have the Air Britain Digest report for Paris Salon 1971 - a detailed 5 and half sides of introduction, aircraft details and photos as noted over the whole week. There will have been small daily changes however. PM me with your e-mail if you would like me to scan and attach the Air Britain report to you.
To send a PM, click over the blue 'user-name' of the person you wish to PM (very top left of each posting), then on the new panel click over the blue 'send a personal message' to get a panel on which to compose the message.
A google of 'Paris Air Salon 1971' does produce a couple of photo sites (Air Britain, Thunderstreak etc) amongst the Hair Salon entries!

I don't have a full log but I do have a log of the aircraft that we flew on and I have them down as :
4th June F-BPJK 727 Air France Heathrow - Orly 6th June F- BPJJ 727 Air France Orly - Heathrow
Sorry, but this is different to the outbound reg noted above. Can't remember whether everyone took the same flight over which could explain it if different flights were used.
I remember the flight being delayed with technical trouble and we arrived at the hotel very late only to find that some of the rooms had been given away to some Americans....

I was not on the Air France trip to Paris, but I was one of the group that took the Islander from Stapleford. I pulled the short straw and had to drive back to Liverpool. I was truly Knackered after being up for nearly 48 hours, and had to stop for a short sleep, much to the annoyance of the others. As for the B727 trip, I remember reading in Flypast, a comment from somebody "wishing the pilot good luck with the rest of his flying lessons" I am not sure whether or not I was editor of Flypast at the time, but the memory of the comment is solid.
