Thats good it has started to rain again- just what the garden needed. Since they put that hosepipe ban on for those soft southerners, it hasn't stopped raining!!!!! Before anyone say's anything-yes I know the hosepipe ban was cancelled a while ago. Happy Days Bob

Just as up and down here in the Rhone Alps--one day cowering in the house by the air con with 38° outside and the next day getting up to 20° and feeling cold--strange how you get climatised to this .In England I considered 20° in Summer to be ideal for a day spotting or fishing. At least you can get in the garden and do a bit before it gets too hot to hold the tools. And then there's the thunderstorms--great free firework displays but a bit unnerving. Doesn't worry the rabbit-he sits by the door and watches the show.LOL Must get to Lyon soon to get some more photos for the forum ;D

John, It would be nice to put the aircon on- actually put the central heating on the other day- as it was so cold. At least you can get in the garden- all we have to look forward too at the moment is more rain or an exciting trip to the Shopping City to mingle with Runcorn's finest. Never mind the footy season starts a week Saturday and I am off with my mates to sunny Morecambe to see the mighty blues. Enjoy the garden and your trip to Lyon. Happy Days Bob

Yes I too am looking forwards to the footy--weren't the Spanish great to watch in the final--a great team and all Spaniards. The garden at the moment is in full prodution--I find it difficult to adjust having worked with a <north facing acid/clay garden in Burnley in the Pennine foothills. Here things just GROW--currently harvesting our spuds, figs, finishing off the cherries and looking forward to harvesting the peaches of which we have thousands on the two free gift seed raised trees. We can only garden in the mornings at present and when it rains--and it does--the limestone soil drains away so quickly I have had to install a well. If you are interested I could post a few photos of my efforts--and some disasters as acid loving plants that I am used to just die.

John the Red, Great pictures mate, looks great- does the lawn need a bit of water on it, looks a bit parched to me or is that just a bit of grass which has left the mower. I bet you have a sit on mower don't you? Or do you have a gardener I thought my garden was big till I saw that baby!!! Managed to cut my grass last after work, and am I glad I did- just started to pour down here in sunny Runcorn. Percy Thrower rules ok!!!! 09:08 - Update- Lashing down now in Runcorn- Just seen a duck with a packamac on!!!!! Happy Days Bob

What a perfect place to spot from--you lucky guy. We get Geneva stuff on finals but usually too high,Chambery is over the ridge so we hear them sometimes but rarely see them__Lyon is just too far away.Planefinder turns up lots of interesting stuff going too and from germany.but I don't check out dots even though its great to check them out with the binocs Some photos to follow soon.
By the way no one has ever said to me I thought mine was big until I saw yours--in my dreams.LOL ;D ;D

Went out to get some evening shots just to amuse fellow forumites and Bob especially; Just started lifting the spuds--and the corn IS as high as an elephant's eye.LOL Two tree to drop in the Autumn--sad about the walnut but it is very twisted haing been struck by lightening at an early age. Its sad because its always been very productive. The other one had better make up the difference.LOL The peach trees stay--not bad for freebies grown from seed by the local kids. View I never tire of --the mountains in the sunshine--sit on the balcony on sunny days and ahve lunch looking over this. Chez nous from inside the walnut--never to be repeated. The tree will be firewood and chippings within days of being dropped and every bit will be used, recycled and returned to the garden. Makes you feel virtuous --first time in my life--but it was worth working and saving for. Not bad for a miner's son. Forgot to add--though we don't search for bookings or advertise we are available to forumites and spotters at €90 for two perple per weekend en suite continental brekky included. If you want a week for 2 it will cost you €270. And you have use of a kitchen and laundry, lounge with UK and French TV etc. Cheap as chips.LOL ;D
