Really Nice, your garden, John. Bravo. Its come on a bit since I was last there. What is your total land area? We have just over 4000 sq metres and with the rain this year it is lush green and growing like mad. The Giant Calla Lillies are nearly 6 ft high and completely screen the pool, so its a great sun trap. Everything else is colourful and abundant.
Like you, we have enjoyed varied weather this year. This morning it was cool and the forecast was miserable. Hence we canceled a trip out in the '172, but by 2pm we had to give up in the garden when it reached 28 we retired to the pool.
In a way, I an not too surprised by this weather. It is a pattern which will be repeated. It was forecast and explained to me about 20 years ago when I worked for a brilliant scientist called Prof John Rhodes. (Of the Cecil Rhodes family, "founders" of Rhodesia.) As the earth warms, the polar ices are melting. This is affecting many of our weather patterns, the most significant for us being changes in the flow rate and direction of the Gulf stream. A gradual and intermittent process. The UK, Ireland and parts of France and Spain will become colder and wetter. My part of France might eventually return to the sea from which it was drained in the middle ages. The proposition that the UK might become significantly permanently warmer in the long term is all tosh. It will be colder, eventually, when things settle down. Its a process which has only just started and will go on long after we are all dead. The fact the Rhodes was the exact opposite of your average flower power green nut case made me more inclined to believe him. During the time that we worked together in the great Philips organization, he was right on just about everything else.

Ron, Thanks for cheering us all up- but its been a lovely day over in the UK on the Costa del North- the sun has been out for a change most of the day- was considering having a barbecue, it has been that nice But sometimes the weather has to end- it has is starting to cloud over again and the wind is getting up- looks like it may rain in the next hour or so. But never mind it has been a nice day- think I will nip out to my fridge and get myself a cold one to celebrate what a nice day it's been. If your wondering what I'm on about- I don't know myself, think I caught the sun at the AVP at Manchester, this afternoon. Could be worse though- could of got wet. Oh by way John's garden is very impressive- as is yours. (And he hasn't got a plane parked in front of his house) Happy Days Bob

I do have an electric plan(ner) that I could park outside the garage if you need to be impressed.LOL Captain Turner is owed a bottle of something nice which he needs to collect because Bristol is still marginally above LJLA on the passenger stats. Fly over to collect sometime.LOL Lawn is about 3000sq met and the house footprint is 230 sq met the potagers, wild woodland and bankings being turned into herbaceous borders are God knows what--seems too much when I'm digging; Looking for a part time gardener to do 2hours a week cash in hand--not easy in a little village. However back to amusement or what passes for it over here--been on a short caravan holiday to Rocamadour-brilliant. And boating on the Lot. But above all rabbit training LOL -Keeps you amused wether hiding from the rain or sun.LOL click on the rabbit to see if it works

Rocamadoour is a truly beautiful place and traffic is banned from the streets unless you have a pass as a trader (certain hours) or a hotel guest. We spent several days there for our 40th wedding anniversary, in a chateau...pushed the boat out..and it was great great great.... There are other places too, not far away. One is St Cirq Lapopie. Very much smaller than Rocamodor but spectacular perched on its hilltop. There are many fine places in this wonderful region of France.

Beautiful, Ron.
I was talking to an Icelandair captain the other day, who was telling me that recently they have been having temperatures in the 20s. He was saying how he was at a barbecue a few days before in Reykjavik where it was 22C and clear skies. As he said, "We've stolen your weather."
