I totally understand why this section has been deleted. However for me, as someone who now lives far away from Liverpool and the UK, this was one of the main reasons for visiting the site, the other section that interests me is the historical one. That being said I myself was personally attacked a few weeks ago for expressing an opinion that was merely an established fact and had nothing to do with a community or city and in no way could have hurt anyone, its fine to disagree but the tone in which it is done is crucial. I found this was a very negative experience and so I concur that it is best to remove the opportunity for people to do this. Unfortunately that is the nature of the internet, its a magnet for obsessive personalities. Perhaps there is a means to announce news of the airport with regards to new services, but offering no means to respond.

Gonna make this quick.
I am not aircraft enthusiast so my interest in NWAN was the news section and nothing else.
I appreciate the decision that you have taken Dave and your reasons for it, however I feel that the forum has now been greatly diminished.
I appeal to you to reinstate the news forum and we can root out the children who have managed to spoil this for everyone else.
Fully understand if you decide against it as you put alot of work into this website for nothing. But I for one will not be coming back if the status quo remains the same.
Thanks for your efforts over the years and hope that we can find an acceptable compromise?

I thought the news section was to inform us of developments at LPL ie CAT 3 ,the Terminal Runways and airline services etc not for personal arguements. As a fan of the airport since the middle 1950's I am sorry the section had to disappear. Where now will we get the information from. jbmack

Thank you all for your postings, emails and pm's. I knew my decision last night would lead to a day like this!
I will look at how I could possibly re-introduce some kind of airport news section that includes changes to schedules etc, stats and things like CATIII.
I have now decided to delete those members who, on checking back, seemed to contribute nothing more than postings aimed at deliberately winding others up. The problem is, I am just not willing (or able) to sit in front of the computer deciding when things may be edging towards unpleasantness once more.
I am truly sorry for those many decent folk on here who are missing out on that section. I must say that I have considered just jacking the whole thing in, I just wonder why I bother at times. I certainly can't please everyone!
Cheers,
Dave

I think we all understand the reasons for your action Dave, and as I said last night, l fully support what you have done even though a key section of our forum is no longer available.
It would be good if in the future, something along smilar lines replaced the old discussion board, with perhaps limited access to post threads on it. At least then we would be kept up to date with developments.
In any event, thanks for your brilliant work and maybe this shot across the bows will make people sit up and take notice. I sincerely hope you dont jack it in; the site provides a valuable service, and is a source of excellent information about our airport to all of us both local and across the globe.

I echo kevmul's sentiments. Its sad that after all your hard work--unpaid and by some unappreciated-you have been made to feel like this. I hope the guilty juveniles have the grace to hang their heads in shame.
This forum has never beeen anything but a lifeline for me-I have rediscovered old friends from years back and have enjoyed the lively but friendly banter. Where else can we old codger ex pats get our scouse humour injection so necessary to get us through the day. PLEASE don't be so disheartened as to consider throwing in the towel--for every spiteful child out there there are a hundred kindred spirits who support you wholeheartedly.
Thanks for all your unstinting efforts to keep us informed of the latest news---as the song says;"Don't give up on us baby." LOL

You have made your decision, Dave, and we, the often silent recipients of all your hard work, have to respect and accept that decision. If I can speak on behalf of this silent majority, may I thank you for the success you have made of NWAN. Like many others, the discussion section was always my first port of call each day even when I lived in the south and when travelling abroad. It will be sorely missed. Thank you once again.

I want to echo what others are saying Dave. I tended to ignore the idiots and read what interested me, I did say that I thought the decision to remove the forum was hasty, but I only said that from what I saw in front of me (not fully understanding why in other words). It must've took alot to make that decision and it was completly respected, and as I said I will continue to enjoy the forum in it's present or whatever form it shall take. I for one appreciate all the work it must take by you to keep a popular web site like this running and I certainly don't want to lose it.
If I can offer any assistance to you in what ever way you see fit, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks
David.

I also am very disappointed this is removed. I think the point has been missed. If somebody is misusing this site then take them off permanently. Yes the Liverpool - Manchester banter can become tedious and boring and if the moderator finds it is wrong he should do something BUT do it to the people who are abusing the site only. Come on it takes a big man to realise he may have been hasty and in my opinion you have been hasty and made the wrong decision. Please reinstall this as soon as possible and make most members happier than they are at present.

A volunteer makes his own work schedule--if he is abused then he WILL pack it in. Someone who is paid to check out abusive idiots has less choice--Dave your decision is yours and yours alone--perhaps someone else could sub let the part of the forum that you have rightly had enough of and see if they can manage it. If it could be done from France I would be willing as are others to lend a hand.

Thanks for that and the pm. Just to let folks know, I am working to restore a LPL news section (to incorporate new admins hopefully) so that we can have LPL facts and figs along with route changes back again....without the petty squabbles and deliberate stirring that has blighted this section over the years. Cheers, Dave

Just spent a week in Ireland, my company were too cheap to give me internet access on my Blackberry while I was there so I have spent most of the time without being on the internet.
I have just spent a few hours catching up with NWAN and what a week.
We have had reports from Canada, Sudan, Brussels, Lisbon, RIAT and Waddington (with some amazing pictures)
This is on top of the detailed reports on Liverpool, Manchester and IOM.
We have a information on buses, ships and members gardens and it's all been brilliant.
Looks like I have missed a few birthdays as well - so happy belated birthday to those that I missed, especially Brian.
Then I find out some members have been arguing and bickering, personally I didn't read the missing section much but I appreciate that it was an important section to those who spend more time at Liverpool.
People just need to chill out and take a step back, especially before sending a ranting post.
We should all appreciate what a great forum we have got and thank Dave for all his hard work
Remember - when you log on
Play nicely with the other children !!!
Ian
