I think you will find that Dave our administrator has deleted the section all together due to the constant bickering. Regards Beemer.

If that's the case then I, for one, support the move.

Yes I have.
ALL other sections of this forum contain informative, friendly, helpful banter, excellent photographs and lively contributions. It is a pleasure to read.
If people want to argue about LPL v MAN in future, go to PPrune or start your own bickering forum!
Cheers
Dave

Have you not got the ability to delete the individuals that abuse this facility? I find it very useful until someone spoils it - why cant they just sort their disputes out in private? It really can get embarrassing at times.

Yes he does but I don't think that's the problem. I think the problem is finding the time to read through all the posts to see if they are up to standard, delete the ones that aren't, then give individual warnings etc. Should this be the case then we are in danger of losing the whole forum as closing this section alone won't solve it but simply move it to another section. What makes this forum the success it is is the wide variety of sections within it but the more sections there are, the harder it is to police.
Although Dave has not asked for them, it could be that (as the forum membership is now close to 1k) more moderators are needed. If this is the case, it's something I've never done before but I don't mind doing it if it will save this section or indead, the forum. Perhaps there are others out there with experience (or not) who are willing to give it a go to.

I, for one, found the discussion forum one of the sections that drew me to NWAN. It is a pity that some people who cannot take a balanced view of aviation in the North West, have spoiled it for everyone. For someone like me who enjoyed the overview of the airport that the discussion section gave, it is a great loss.

Ditto as above--it was my first read each morning--sad loss. Score 1 for the juveniles.

I find it quite sad that people view discussion as juvenile, especially when topics under discussion like LPLs plans for future development the airports progress, seem by some to be not quite right, yes at times it can develop into a very deep discussion and people can get heated about it it,but that is what it is all about having and showing PASSION for this airport, surely there can be no harm in that,we cant all live in the past LPLs future cannot be taken for granted and if people express an opinion then surely we cannot ignore it and bury our heads in the sand, adult discussion regarding the plight of LPL needs to be kept out in the open and not shunted away from evryones view

Yes the Liverpool Airport news section is a sad loss and living in Asia it provided a great source of information. For me it was in the main informative and entertaining. However its for others to decide and they have spent the time to create the forum.

Charlie-discussion in an adult form is great--juvenile sniping as not-hence the loss.

Sometimes people got a little bit carried away yes, but it showed that we all want the same thing. People do need to keep on track in discussions and learn to bite ones tongue and in return others needed to lighten up a bit and realise it was a debate for the enjoyment of enthusiasts. The danger point though is when things become liablest, and if any discussions were getting close to that then the decision was right. I enjoyed the discussions and It is my belief that it was a bit hasty, but it isn't my decision to make and will continue to enjoy the forum in it's new form.

Just one final note from me on this subject . It has NOT been a hasty decision. Over the last few years, these types of discussions have invariably led into name - calling, member banning, reported posts to the moderator and complaining pm's being sent to me ad nauseum. Rather than being hasty, this was the final straw. It is just a pity that that section could never have the same friendly atmosphere that the rest of the forum enjoys.
I'm sorry for the loss of this service, but I do not have the time or the inclination anymore to referee such behaviour.
Dave

I am very disappointed that this forum has been removed. It was definitely the best place for news from the airport online and it won't be easy to replace. As I am more interested in the airport's development rather than aviation itself I have no particular reason to visit these boards any more which is a great shame as I would check for updates everyday in the past.
