The echo today Friday page 13 has an article warnind motor vehicle drivers that from Monday 9th a spy camera car will be watching the Red Zone Restricted Approach road to Liverpool Airport, it is fitted with ANPR number plate recognition and will be issuing £100 fines for vehicles parked and not using the Airport Parking facilities, this is due to congestion of the road. Another money spinner for the council then. Perhaps the Airport could do something about the time allowed for people and the costs involved which brought about this situation forcing people to avoid the airport when picking up people until the last minute. Too simples me thinks.

"Not sure if it is the report in the Echo or Biggles' interpretation but it is not a fine but a charge. Private companies cannot fine people " Not my interpretation, it is stated to be a FINE and not a charge as the way it is written it refers to the public approach road which I presume to be the road prior to the roundabout as you enter the airport ? I also presume it is not the Airport who are using an ANPR camera car to catch offenders, nut a private contractor employed by Peel who then issue to the registered keeper the intention of a penalty fine or charge of £100 ? This car will be similar to the one trundling around the Wirral a Toyota Aygo, which got smacked by a bus last weej much to the amusement of the people of Wirral. But who ever or whatever the reason it is being caused by time limits and available areas within the area run by the airport management.

The driver of the snoopmobile parked just in front of a bus stop half on half off the kerb and opened his door as the bus came into the stop..then hid behind his clipboard as the world and his wife took pictures of him on their phones etc. He was parked on the bend taking pictures of people who obstuct the bend etc.

The Red Route markings referred to are all within the Airport's jurisdiction. It is these areas that are the subject of the Press Release. Dave C: There is no Bus Stop within those Red Routes so the vehicle you spotted must be local authority enforcement - he should be reported and and tickets issued be declared invalid if he is breaking regulations. Remember Double Yellow lines (and other restrictions) apply to the full highway which includes footpaths etc. That said there are some totally irresponsible actions by many motorists in the area. can't blame the Airport for their actions!

Can anybody inform, whether or not there is a charge to drop off or pick up passengers at Liverpool. A friend who just came from Bristol told me it was the case there. (£1 payable at a barrier)

There is no charge for the first 10 mins in the ground level carp ark to the multi-storey.
I think your friend left the airport in a taxi, they are charged £1 to leave the their taxi rank. They are supposed to pass on that charge to the passenger.

Just to drag this link further, relating to the vehicle obstructing the approach road, a friend is a regular flyer with Ryanair to Dublin and back, she travels to and from the airport by taxi, on the collection to return to the Wirral the taxi waits until she clears the arrivals and is outside she is then contacted by mobile and the taxi come in picks her up and drives out. No additional charge. I guess many do this and wait on the now red zone. As I said if the free time allocated actually worked we would not need another privately run snoop mobile issuing fines or charges. Which ever way I look at it, someone is making money yet again out of motorists.

Not a penny will be made if no one parks or waits illegally. As one who has to dodge the waiting traffic on Hale Road regularly I have no sympathy with anyone who gets fined / charged. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Well said Andyh! Sometimes these restrictions seem designed to inconvenience people or make money, but the answer is simple. The rules are obvious...as with "unnecessary" speed limits,if you don't break them, they won't affect you.

There is no charge for the first 10 mins in the ground level carp ark to the multi-storey. Just to update. The 'Drop Off zone' charge has now changed to just 5 mins free. Between 5 and 10 mins it's now £2. It also increases by £2 for every 10 minutes there after or part there of. So, if your there for 11 mins you will be charged £4, 21 mins, £6, 31 mins, £8 etc. If anyone anticipates being there for more than 5 mins the multi-story (although expensive) works out a lot cheaper. Should anyone think about parking or dropping off (even for just a few seconds) in the red zone - forget it. The enforcement vehicle is active and can often be seen in front of the crash gates, giving it a clear view of the whole area. As sfp points out - You will be charged!
Hope this helps
