A someone who has been on PPruNe for some years now, I find that there is a bias against anything northern - even Manchester! ;D The guy who set it up originally (and then sold it out), is a Scouser, and normally would intervene with a few choice comments of his own when things got a bit turbulent. Most of the UK contributors to PPruNe live in the south-east, and harbour the usual attitude towards anything north of Watford Gap, ie that London and the Home Counties are the centre of the universe. Note the overwhelming excitement a few days ago when Gatwick had an A380! I was very tempted to post that Manchester had two in at the same time on Saturday, but held off, in the certain knowledge that it would provoke yet another north-south debate, and I'm getting too old for that sort of stuff! There's some interesting stuff on there, but there are also a lot of opinionated  who think they are the most important people on the site. Long live NWAN! |

I used to be on PPrune when I worked at LGW.....a few years back now!!!! I'll have to dig out my login details and might be temped to add my 10p's worth!!!!! :-)
2 A380's at MAN saturday....why was that??? I was having a great day out myself!!!

John The second was a JFK-DXB diversion, owing to a medical emergency. From what I've heard the person concerned was quite ill (suspected heart attack). |

Did not swear just positive vibes--told one critic to get a life and get out more-otherwise nothing contrivertial. Did suggest that some found LJLA successs threatening but that was obvious from the postings.LOL As Arnold said,"I'll be back."LOL  |

Have always found some senior members of pprune especially in the Spectators Balcony (Spotters Corner) especially vicious if anyone,particularly people with little avaiation knowledge dare to ask a question that these so called experts find annoying and regard as piffle or of no significance or interest.
Many times I have read a perfectly innocent aeronautical question that someone has written, be torn apart with sarcastic, dont waste our time, or everyone knows the answer to that quips.There seems to be a hard core of "experts" who like to flex their wings (pardon the pun) and relish the chance to show to the world their aviation knowledge and experience. What seem to be a lot of young people who are studying for their licence or other types of future employment in aviation use this and the other sub forums, and are frequently shot down in flames (non intentional pun) and belittled by this hard core of possibly retired crusty aviation veterans who sit on pprune hour after hour itching for the chance to tear into someone who dares to ask something they see as purile, common or garden or just "spotterish"
I have used pprune for many years now - I dont (think) I have a username, I wouldnt want one - god forbid they might ban me, I just go on and read the forums - 95% of pprune is well informed,well written information that we would struggle to find in detail through the press.
I have noted the trends within this Spectators Balcony section for some time and I cant see things improving anytime soon.
Johnoakes - you have my sympathy and support !

I found Pprunei to be parochial and humourless---I think the moderator has a god problem (allegedly) and may need earthly help.
