Few shots taken at Woodford Airshow back in 1995. All scanned from photos. XV246 Nimrod XM603 Vulcan Sea King (possibly ZA313) JY-RJU Dove Royal Jordanian AF Historic Flight 57+01 Dornier 228 German Navy VP-FBL Twin Otter British Antarctic Survey The following shots were all taken from an open top bus that was giving tours of the far side of the field G-OLXX RJ70 G-SABR F-86 As we were about to cross back across the runway the traffic lights changed and closed the runway as the Red Arrows were about to start their routine. As the last shot shows they came right over the bus covering us with smoke. A unique view I know they are not great shots but something different Ian

Thanks Steve
I think the Vulcan has already gone, not sure if someone ended up with the nose.
Shame it will close, they should have done more with it when the 146 production closed, it would have been great if they could have done some work with the A320's or something

What a pitty to have broken it up. Yes its sad to see Woodford go and yet another nail in the coffin of our once world renown aircraft industry.

Sadly, this has been on the cards for a long time. If I remember correctly, BAE owns the land on which Woodford sits, and it is far too tempting an opportunity to miss. When sales & marketing was moved to Stevenage in 1986, there was talk then of long-term plans for the site, and it wasn't to do with building aircraft. It's called politics apparently. All that land in a leafy area of south Manchester! Expect to see 'exclusive homes' probably in a gated area. At least it'll take the pressure off Alderley Edge and Prestbury for when MCFC is the world's richest football team and the world's greatest players are looking for somewhere to live

Statement from the VTTS website:
Vulcan displays at RAF Waddington cancelled 04 July 2009 - VTTS
The Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST) and Marshall Aerospace are deeply disappointed and saddened to have to announce that the planned displays of the Vulcan at the RAF Waddington International Airshow on 4th and 5th July have had to be cancelled.
As part of the 2005-7 Major servicing, a number of structural inspections had to be deferred, because it was not feasible to complete them on XH558’s airframe. It was planned by VTST and Marshal Aerospace, in agreement with BAE Systems and the Civil Aviation Authority, that these inspections would be carried out before the renewal of XH558’s Permit to Fly on 3rd July 2009, using the airframe of BAE Systems-owned Vulcan XM603 at Woodford, as part of the scrapping process of this aircraft. Unfortunately, despite best intentions, it has not yet proved possible to complete or establish mitigations for all these inspections. Consequently, we have currently not fully met the conditions that would enable the issue of XH558’s Permit to Fly renewal.
XH558 is however is fully serviceable and ready for flight, and Marshall Aerospace together with VTST and BAE Systems are doing all they can as quickly as they can to resolve this unexpected, one-off issue within the next few days. We are very sad that it is not going to be possible for the Vulcan to display at Waddington over the weekend of 4th/5th July. WCG..{ South Wales }
