I had heard that as compensation o2 are offering 35 smoke signals, 100 pigeons and unlimited semaphore flag waves.
Don't know how true it is !!!! ;D

The switch to 2G does work but not for everyone.
Strange that the network that failed 02 is also the network which controls the criminals on tag and also the terror suspects on curfew and restricted movements. Odd such a failure just prior to an large event in the UK.
Add this to the G4S security fiasco and I reckon it should be a MAJOR CONCERN for people to be very worried.
