The conspiracy theorist in me says there is alot more to flybe going bump... There are lots of interesting articles going around the Internet making fascinating reading... But the majority all state that funding promised by the new owners never really materialised and that their financial liabilities in all this were quite low.. I think the new owners knew the airline was doomed and that the outcome was always going to be the same (maybe why the rebrand never happened), perhaps not this quick but they were using this threat to manipulate the government regarding taxes and subsidies... I think what we will see now is virgin getting what they wanted with slots at Heathrow, stobart maybe becoming the main player domestically pushing more business through Southend. I also think we will see the end of some local airports sadly.... I think your right re Virgin and the LHR slots.

Or maybe not......apparently the slots at LHR revert to BA. All is not well at Stobart either, as they are financially exposed by their involvement in Flybe and are encouraging staff to take unpaid leave.

Stobart Group invested in FlyBe, not Stobart Air.
The Stobart group sold Stobart Air to raise the money to invest in FlyBe.

The ex BMI "Remedy slots", at Heathrow, will now revert to IAG unless somebody wants to use the slots to start services to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Moscow or Nice.
In that case the slots would be provided to the new entrants.

FlyBe slots at Heathrow should be reserved for a Liverpool service. Its a disgrace that a major and important city like Liverpool does not have a conection to the capital, how can we possibly compete for business. What international company would open in a city without a service to its capital.Northern conectivity is not,oh its ok you can fly to another city, over 30 miles away then get a bus or a train to the city. Its the perception that the city is not is not conected to the rest of the world.Mayor Rotheram should be fighting for this, especialy as slots are available just now

I read that Blue Islands are to operate 3 x per day MAN to SOU in competition with Eastern on the same route 4 times a day. Considering they already know LPL with their Guernsey route last year, what a pity they didnt pick up.the long unserved LPL-SOU route. I cant see two operators out of MAN to Southampton lasting long.

Eastern only operate 2 return flights on the route, not 4.
Also Flybe operated 5/6 flights per day which were well subscribed.

Well its what I read today elsewhere...it might not be accurate but is a contributor on here, he is normally right.
Whatever it is , its a missed opportunity for one of them not to offer a Southampton to Liverpool option.

Not entirely sure you’re right either vctr...just looked at T3 website for last week in July and it only shows one evening rotation on offer, operated by a J.41...

P&O have suspended cruises until 15th October at the earliest and have announced redundancies amounting to over 25% of staff. I suspect that demand for the route will be rather less than seen previously.

We have done a few cruises over last couple of years , in fact did an nil one in January this year. Seems a long time ago now!! I certainly would not consider a cruise this year and I suspect lots of other people would think the same. So this announcement is not a surprise. Think it’s going to be a few years b4 cruising returns to normal.
