There was a huge argument when Ryanair and easyJet switched terminals at Manchester some years ago. The airport wanted Ryanair to use them, but they wouldn’t pay. Both airlines maintain that two sets of steps are significantly quicker. Certainly that is the case at Luton.

It looks great to be fair, but it doesn't soften the blow of the completely inadequate arrivals set up though, passengers don't remember the walls when they get stuck in the queues..
Still seems a shame when so much money has been spent on the terminal, the false promises of arrivals redevelopment has never happened .

The article in the Wirral Globe does suggest this is part of a larger project with more to come.

The airport have been saying this for years, arrivals will take major investment and disruption to increase its size etc, the pinch points are immigration which I suppose in theory is out of the airports control and potentially will become more difficult when the current uk situation comes to a head... Also when multiple flights land this then makes things look alot worse.. But how many times in a day does this actually happen, granted if you are stuck in the queue it's the worst thing ever, but does it warrant a huge investment by the airport especially given most UK airports suffer from the same ridiculous queues too...only thing I can see happening will be the auto passport gates maybe, although where they will go is anyone's guess..

When they work they are great. However they are not the quickest. Main problem I’ve had over the last few years is they don’t work all the time. This then makes matters worse as the queue lengthens as the officials try and sort the problem. And then you have to join the manned queues. My passport was one of the early ones and on one occasion when it failed again, I was told that the early ones had problems.

Seems to me that most of the problems would be solved by joining the Schengen system.

From the post today on the Twitter feed, the airport expects to make a new route announcement on Friday.

Just looked at the twitter feed. There is a map which I enlarged and strange but Majorica has moved to the Costa Brava? Last time I looked it was just north east of Ibiza.
Lets hope it is also a new airline.

Business Daily reporting that Peel and Liverpool City Council have sold a combined 45% stake in the airport to London based infrastructure Investment company Ancala. Unclear yet if this will unlock additional investment in the short to medium term

At first thoughts why does an energy/utilities investment business want to invest in an airport? Peel for several years have suggested that they need more free cash for further investment in their whole portfolio of businesses. To this end they have agreed a joint venture with Ancala by forming a new company taking over their energy business. So obviously this is were the idea of the airport has come from, when they’ve asked is there anything else we can do together. So what does an investment company with no experience in the airport sector want from their investment? Don’t be surprised if a planning app. goes to the city council for a solar farm. Airports have large acreage of grass doing very little so it would make sense to start with something they know about. Asset managers are about one thing, making a return for their investors, so there should be something happening soon as they would have had to put a plan together to get approval for the investment from their board. There will no doubt be good things happening but some things that some might not like. It depends on what sort of operator they are and the way they intend to make the level of return. Time will tell.
