While I have no great desire to request the web-masters to impose rules and sactions on forum users, I would like to state that one of the reasons that I participate regularly on this forum (although belong to others that I very rarely post on) is that it acts as a great exchange of aviation knowledge with a North West bias.
Over the past 48 hours, it has however been dominated by a bored teenager, who has managed no less than 74 out of the current total of 424 posts ie 1 in 6 of all comment. While I welcome enthusiasm and interest in all matters aviation, only around half a dozen of the 74 posts actually add anything to our knowledge and were worth posting. Several others, however, have simply been downright confusing, while others request information that it is difficult to see why the poster requires it.
From a personal viewpoint, can we get back to this forum being "an information exchange" rather than "a comment exchange", please.
Please can posts be used to pass on information and not 'one-liner' comment.
First 'rant' by any postee on the new NWAN forum is over!
Thank you.

Can anyone explain the "warning 50%" together with a red line logo that is appearing against one members details box?... anything we should be wary of? Has he been yellow carded or something for posting too often? The only thing I can think he is trying to do is boost his rating from new member to senior member ASAP....as I think this is on your number of posts rather than age..years of spotting etc......
regards Dave

These warnings/suspensions are new features available to this forum. I agree that he was just trying to get his status increased by posting so many times. It also turns out that we can actually "zero" the number of posts recorded against a member, so this will happen if he persists...or more likely he will get permanently banned. Cheers, Dave

;D Hooray--lets get back to some serious debate and sniping--we do love it and it certainly keeps the dreaded altzheimers at bay.
Now what about these guys hiding on the waggons from Calias to Dover? Its not a French problem even though the newscasters tried to make it sound so.
The problem is entirely here where we featherbed these illegals and therefore criminals and encourage them .
They are not coming here to work hard and contributer but are for the free handouts that decend like a golden shower as soon as they arrive.
Somehow it does make any attempts to count how many we have here completely impossible and any numbers given by the government a complete farce and a lie to boot.
The French are glad to be shot of them and would most certainly not let them back in.
We are great we taxpayers. We provide these scroungers with facilities we can hardly afford ourselves .Personally I would rather a complete block as of today and pay less tax. Wouldn't you??
AS for government quotas--are you really taken in by the spin these cretins who have ruled us for over 10years put on just everything. Waken up out there before it is too late.
Now if that doesn't get the debate going then we are truly finished.|LOL

On switch on this morning, I find that overnight - infact in the past 3 hours there have been over 20 posts - 18 by the most prolific poster on the forum.
I use this forum to find out (and post) information that is unlikely to be available elsewhere. I'm only too delighted that this forum is busier than its ever been.
However the reason for this post is to state that I'm a little tired of having to wade through near every post/thread being personal comment by just one forum member. While I have no beef against targeted praise, when praise and personal information is so liberally spread about, in posts shorter than the postees user name it rather loses its gloss, indeeds becomes sarcastic (even though I'm sure never intended that way). Of the 18 posts, 6 were praise/thanks, 2 personal info about the postee, 1 irrelevant (football), 1 question (which could be answered by switching on volmet), airline info 8 (which could have been more effectively handled in 2 longer posts), and to make up the 20 posts, 2 LJLA information posts from the other postees.
This is not an attack, just a plea for a greater percentage of posts to be news. information, queries etc., with less personal comment only of relevence to the postee and keeping praise for the really spectacular, not every photo or list posting. Unlike two previous 'mass posters', this member does have some very good information and interesting things to say that add to our knowledge. It is the vast number of short rapid-fire 'comment' entries I find fustrating to wade through to find the information posts on the forum.
Or am I totally 'out of step' in desiring less posts, with a far greater percentage of posts containing information likely to be useful to the majority?

I do agree with your comments Viscount. Something that I find irritating is the posting of a new reply that corrects the previous posting, when the use of the edit tool would have done (as you have used in reply #8).

I agree with you Viscount, the only purpose as I can see of posting so many replies, is to increase the post count. I too am sick of wading through so many inane replies, I was thinking of asking Dave to increase the 'view last replies' from 20 -40, as the number of posts from 1 member completely overwrites any relevant info. C'mon BobJan, play the game.

I'm not at home at the moment and have very limited access to t'internet.
I have to agree. Bob, could you please consider the relevance of your posts before posting them? I don't want to put people off making contributions here, but there are many unnecessary posts appearing and I have had PM's commenting on it and I don't want to put the people who post this forum's "bread and butter" messages to get disenchanted with the situation.
I will remove any I think are not relevant, but I would prefer not to have to - if you see what I mean!!
Thanks,
Dave

Johnoakes, not exactly completly true, I agree the benefis available are very attractive, only if your not born here of course. The UK HMC and Border Control do now have officers stationed on French soil and at the departure ports to stem this flood into UK, fighting a losing battle any found are returned to French authorities for removal. Sadly I can`t see it deminishing until something serious is put in place to ensure these people comply with the rules and STOP in the FIRST SAFE COUNTRY, they get to after leaving the country they have left. Now how the UK becomes the FIRST safe one for people fleeing such far off places as Afghanistan and even further is beyond my common sense.

I totally agree with people complaining about idiots posting useless comments, especially after a previous post only minutes before when the edit/modify could have been used. ;D

Dave, Noted I am glad you pointed it out to myself as well as Beemer. And Biggles less of the idiot, there was a reason for that request and it did not require the response that I received from Beemer. I hope in future all items on this forum are dealt with as firmly, and not just against the few who are shall I say are not in favour. Concerned Bob
