Just arrived back in from the show, departed Car Park at 18.00hrs and arrived home Prescot 18.45hrs. Anyway, today's show was I think one of the best I've seen over the years with an excellent selction of display aircraft too - almost best of British I suppose! Continous action with little lull moments in between displays with an unexpected appearance of a "Hawker Hunter TR7" which flew in tandem with the "Canberra". Clearly the highlight was seeing the two "Lancasters" together - for the last time although seeing them passing Derwent Water a little later would be "wow" factor but cant be in two places at once. Certainly enjoyed all the displays but must mention the display by "Xtreme XA41" - that was excellent. All helped by the excellent weather today in stark contrast to yesterday.
The list of participants was: Red Arrows, Tucano T1, Blades, Catalina, Sea King Mk5, Tutor & Bulldog, Hurricane, Huey, Jet Provost, (Black Cat) Lynx, Xtreme XA41, Mustang P51D, Lynx AH7, BBMF with Canadian Lancaster, Typhoon, Canberra & Hawker Hunter, Merlin HM2, RV8tors and Avro Vulcan (also landed on the beach was a replica "Storch").
Finally, given the direction the Vulcan arrived from, I suspect it may of flew down past LJL Aiport and down the Mersey - anyone confirm - again cant be in two places at once.

As I stated in my previous post unfortunately the Vulcan was on its way to Liverpool after its display but it changed its mind

Just say Excellent show I too had a great time just need to go through 12GB of memory to see how they where but made up with the two Lancaster Bombers, Catalina, Hunter and the Vulcan, I had a problem of bus replacement going and coming back on the Wirral line.

Fantastic display one of the best I've seen for a while with very little down time between the action. No problems with transportation as I went by bike (a 43 mile round trip), arrived late though (during the Tutor and Bulldog display) missing the Red's, and Tucano but I did see the Catalina, Blades, and Sea King at Woodvale as I passed through. Got a shock with the prices displayed on arrival, cars being charged £6 for parking plus £9 per occupant. However, that would appear to have been no deterrent as on the way home I cycled past at least 2 miles of standing traffic before reaching the Formby bypass.

SOUTHPORT AIR SHOW 2014 COMMENTS AND CHECK-LIST SUNDAY
What more can I say about the Sunday at Southport but absolutely marvelous. One of the best off-airfield airshows I've been to. Not only glorious sunshine, warm (but not hot) sunshine, with a light on-shore breeze but fabulous aircraft too, the two Lancasters, Vulcan, Canberra PR.9, Hunter, Hurricane, Mustang, Merlin and Typhoon (the modern one!). The show ran from midday to 4.20 with only the briefest of pauses and not a single 'no show' on the day (a rare event). I sat on the beach and had a wonderful afternoon with camera and notes. Yes, I totally enjoyed the display!
The only aspect of the afternoon that struck a sour note was that Merseyrail, in their great wisdom, decided that the Hunts Cross to Central section of the electric line to Southport would be closed all day. So a one hour trip took longer then two.
AIRCRAFT ON THE BEACH
There were 10 visiting aircraft parked on the beach during the afternoon. No show participants used the beach this year, apart from the Squirrel collecting 'Red 10'.
On the Prom, in the 'Display Village': BS435/F:FY VS.Spitfire IX Spitfire full size replica fund raiser There was an Army Gazelle, according to the commentator - I forgot to look for it when leaving! Your post was posted just before mine and I had not seen it. Sorry. However, I did refer to the Vulcan arriving at Southport from the direction of the Mersey, i.e. I was looking south, and it came from the left direction over at least the entrance of the Mersey and following the coast to Southport beach. The Vulcan afterwards headed north west first after the final run past before heading east and clearly making a flypast over Blackpool, so if any decision by who ever was made not to go south and east, then it was made earlier. In regards to the original post and not passing LJL Airport because Air Show Organisers may not like it - well, Blackpool Airport is getting the free show instead!!

It arrived Clitherow Blackburn Burnley Preston was heading south after display to Liverpool airport then posted correction heading to Preston. I hope I have the arrivals in correct order it should be still on Facebook. Looks like the catalina was the only aircraft to brave the ak ak from Peel Holdings (just a joke)

Many thanks G-PHIL for a PM pointing out the G-CCDD should be G-CCDO - I'm a slow learner as that one has confused before! If anyone has further corrections (or additional information) do please either post or PM.
UK Candy - the Spitfire in the Prom 'Airshow Village' area is included in the initial listing. It is definitely no relation to the RAF Sealand former gate guardian, Spitfire LF.XVI (TD248/DW:A) which is now a flier (most recently seen by me coded CR:S). In fact, BS435/FY:F is a metal constructed full scale model of a Spitfire IX and 'lives' in Lytham St.Annes and has been seen at Southport Air Show before, as it is easily taken apart/put together for transport by road trailer.

Looks like the catalina was the only aircraft to brave the ak ak from Peel Holdings (just a joke) If Vulcan came from the Preston direction, then clearly it headed south inland - to the east of Southport towards Liverpool before arriving on its first run past at the show from along the southern Merseyside coast. I understand the joke about Peel Holdings though, its across the board including the Port of Liverpool!
