For the older members on the site, highlights for me where all British Eagle aircraft, Aer Lingus Carvairs and DC 3s and just maybe the first visit of a BOAC Super VC 10 on diversion from Ringway Aaagh Nostalgia.

The older we are the more 'best evers' we have to look back on. I remember most, if not all of the firsts posted on this thread and there have been some fabulous days to remember. But its about looking forward as well as back and tomorrow's dreamliner will certainly be up there with them!
Almost makes me wish I was in Liverpool at the mo and not sitting by the pool at my villa in Florida. Almost.................................

The first visit of DC10 G-AZZC in 1972 was a highlight, as most of us were seeing the type for the first time. The Sabena 707 OO-SJE in 1968 would be also high on my list, with an unusual airline bringing a 'bong' to Speke.
More recently, three Corsair 747-400s parked next to each other was a sight to behold.

Personally speaking, as I'm a relative latecomer to aviation enthusiasm, the sound of Phil Connolly's Huey 72-21509 visiting LJLA on a training sortie in July 2009 actually made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! Ran to the missus shouting 'I can hear a Huey, I can hear a Huey'. Couldn't quite believe it when this war horse approached 27 and then unusually taxied to the GA via Alpha 1 along Alpha and right in front of me to get the money shot! You don't get to see this every day from the GA!! Regards, Garry

This thread, started on the day before the first visit of a Boeing 787 to Liverpool was generated on the daily Airport thread and subsequently moved to this section. This thread was inspired by this comment: This is definitely going to be the LJLA highlight of the year if not ever!

First (and to be honest every subsequent) visit by Concorde...walking from Garston along Speke Road and seeing the tail of the USAF Galaxy tower up over Bryant and May...seeing runway 08/26 full of Manhester strike diverts in the early 1980s...and standing on the old balcony watching, earring and smelling an RAF VC-10 starting up and taxying out...so many highlights to choose from. A hobby that just keeps giving...!

The A380 F-WWDD on 12-07-2008 @ 13:30hrs never landed but was only feet away from making LJLA the first airport in the UK to receive an A380 Airbus. Regards Beemer. A380 LJLA by brianl_thompson74, on Flickr

OR if I may add the USAF C.5 Galaxy which flew low level down the Mersey and landed at Liverpool. That made the 3 Graces look small.

.Counting all those RRAvons from Banks Road When airliners made PROPER NOISE. What was the total count of Avons? LZ-INK would have been a hIghlight for me, but a number of us had a tour of Broughton that evening and missed it!
