Just my experience from Amsterdam I used one. However at Faro easyjet use air bridges all the time. What a coup if Liverpool had a couple and easyjet were using them, but Manchester they weren't ! I don't know this but what is the situation at say BFS BRS LBA EMA NCL CWL do any of these have them ? Ok probably enough said on them, I think it would be a massive improvement at some point for LPL, at the moment the gates need TLC desperately.

I regard myself as a fairly ordinary passenger. In fact I loathe all the check in and security crap at airports to the extent that commercial flying is a non preferred method.
I prefer air bridges and expect it for long haul flights.
For short haul flights I prefer a walk across the tarmac to being bussed, any day.
This is a joy at smaller places like my local La Rochelle.
However it is not so joyfull when arriving at Reyjavik when it is snowing horizontally in a ferocious wind, and underfoot it is hard slippery snow.
So long as I am confortable, safe, and getting value for money. That's fine.
I am shocked at some of the comments on this and other threads just recently. This is a hobby. It's supposed to be fun!

If this is the level of commentary that this forum has degenerated into, sadly I don't think I want a part of it anymore.

Easiest thing to do is ignore the comments you don't like, everybody can have an opinion, however don't rise to comments that you don't like, it just encourages more. We don't want to go back to the forum being on lockdown when we seem to have some freedoms to discuss.. I'm torn on the subject of air bridges. Liverpool's current reputation is built on getting the planes in and out as quick as possible and to be fair I don't see how Aer Lingus / Stobart could take issue with this. How many times have you had to wait at the end of a flight for the bridges to be connected, this can take 10 - 15 mins sometimes. Improvements need to be made, nobody is disputing that, however sometimes the improvements people want, are not necessarily the improvements that will make things better. Liverpool needs to continue to attract the routes and operators that are their bread and butter, it is the loco's that have built the airport into what we have today, but remember its the Loco's that have also redefined air travel in the last decade. All the other airlines have had to play catch up to them in a way as the majority of the traveling public, and that's me included in this want cheap air travel, all the frills of years ago I no longer expect. In flight entertainment and meals and I suppose Air bridges are not a factor to me. Its price and destination. If Liverpool can provide this in its current form then why should it change. If the airlines demanding this are the likes of Aer Lingus, that will only bring a domestic service to the table, then the Airport shouldn't bow to them at the expense of others. If however it is a deciding factor to say attracting the likes of Thomas Cook or Thomson from a full scale escalation of services then Liverpool should and must look at the option, I doubt however that this is the case - always happy to be proved wrong though ! Apologies for the slight off subject - back to Aer Lingus..

I'm, opening myself up to a barrage of abuse, but as an Admin I feel the topic of Aer Lingus's departure and now that (off topic) of Air Bridges has run their course. Opinions have been forcibly aired, the topic discussed and some rather dubious comparisons made - already the 'debate' has spiralled down into abuse and uncivil comment, so as Admin I'm issuing a warning before previously well respected members end up with a ban.
I've no personal interest on who has the 'last word' in the discussion (provided that it is me!), so would like all to respect a request from Admin for at least a 48 hour 'cooling off' pause in posting on this thread (unless it is news of a fresh new development).
Thank you.

Before we let it rest I flew back with Ryanair from Alicante today and guess what we boarded via an air bridge,so they do use them at this particular airport were I noticed a couple more Ryanairs hooked up to them.

Hi folks, just tried booking flights on the Aer Lingus service before it stops and could not book any date on a Saturday during March 2017! Has the Airline stopped selling the route or is it just a Saturday you cannot book ?

Just been on the Aer Lingus web site looking up USA. Was surprised to see ' North America from Liverpool ' listed. This is an airline that should still be at Liverpool, Ryanair racked up the pressure on them in the past, and yet they Manage to operate at other airports in competition to one another. www.aerlingus.com/plan-and-book/latest-offers/flights-from-britain/

I see what you mean. Its probably a bug in the system, or somebody has let the cat out of the bag, too early. Probably the former. We used Aer Lingus once to Orlando from Southampton. It was a good service, good connection and the USA customs clearance at Dublin was fantastic. However, we found the seats in the aircraft, New A330's. the most uncomfortable we have ever experienced. After two hours, everybody around us was complaining.

They seem to make them very slim these days ( i guess to reduce weight ) you really notice if you go on an old airliner at a place like Duxford. You can see how much more cushioning was used in the past.

More likely they forgot to take it off, from a few years back. Though wasn’t there a thought that Ryanair was going to link up with them for transatlantic flights?
