Beemer Personally I would remove the date from the thread title as there will have to be another 26 May thread opened nearer to that date.Otherwise genuine movement info is going to get lost in pages of clutter. It was inevitable that people would want to chat about such a large event,it doesn't do any harm. As with all Cup Final airlifts nailed-on movement info will be 48hrs in advance at best and very likely much less than that. As LPL has said there is no such thing as a 'fact'at this stage and couldn't possibly be when you opened the thread.

Ukraine International is turning up in good numbers (including some heavy metal) in Madrid next week, so it could well be possible that they will do the same in the UK. The lunchtime flight from LGW to KBP (PS112) on 25 May and then late-evening return from KBP to LGW (PS113) on 27 May will indeed be operated by B767s instead of the normally used B737-800s.

"The crew must be present at KBP 3 hours before departure due crew transfer times to remote parking area, aircraft handling, etc."
The crews are going to love that! So that will add three hours to duty time - and the impression I get from that notification is that chaos will prevail. The details in that SCP document fill me with horror, frankly. My one and only visit to KBP with a 125, admittedly more than 20 years ago, did not impress me at all.
I wonder if UEFA, in their infinite wisdom, ever consider, over their extremely expensive dinner meetings, whether the cities which have bid to host the final have the airport capabilities to deal with the fans? (Sorry, rhetorical question!)

It is incredible that Kiev cannot guarantee fuel either. LPL has had that problem in the past too. The idea behind advertising it is that airlines will make provision to carry sufficient fuel to return to their original point of departure. Thereby, allowing the aircraft that cannot comply to be refuelled at Kiev without exhausting existing stocks.

They will be hard pushed to do that as it's a round trip of approx 7 hours.
An A320 longest scheduled flight, KEF to TLV, averages out at 6hrs 59mins.

As pointed out, the main reason behind this is to lower the incentives for everyone to turn up with insufficient fuel for the entire return trip. If just a few need to refuel at KBP, then so be it and it won't be a big drama. If suddenly every single aircraft has to refuel at KBP that night, the fuel stocks might be challenged and the entire process might take a lot of time, vehicles and personnel. The expected number of widebody aircraft will help to tackle the refueling issue anyway though ...

I've read on a Ukrainian site that Madrid will use Terminal D and Liverpool will use Terminal B at KBP airport.
Thomas Cook website says they will be sending confirmations today and tomorrow.

World Choice Sports has added a further two night, flight only service, departing LPL at 10:10 on 25/5, returning to LPL at 17:00 on 27/5. No indication of aircraft type or operator. Sport Options was also indicating on its Twitter timeline yesterday that it too had managed to source an additional aircraft for a day trip (something like 05:00 departure from LPL, 04:10 departure from Kiev).
It will certainly be an interesting few days as details finally start to emerge of what we can expect!

I know we’re not doing rumours (😜) but there’s a pretty strong rumour that LFCs official sponsor Malaysian Airlines will fly the club back from Kiev on an A350. Hopefully all will be revealed over the next few days.

Unfortunately that article (as usual with most press) is not the full story. The tickets being returned are from the original tranche issued and they are merely going to be redistributed to those Real Madrid fans who are on the waiting or standby list. They are expecting to sell their full allocation, so there would not be any extra aircraft available.

I rather take it that 'logistical issues' means the fans have found that they simply cannot get to Kiev ie Madrid fans are short of aircraft seats too. Under a week to go and transport/ticket situation is still rather fluid. The post relating LFC possibly coming home on team sponsor Malaysian Airlines is an interesting one - if that does turn out to be so, I wonder if we can additionally hope for one painted as an LFC logo-jet, something like the Garuda Airbus a couple of seasons back? Right that's me banned for 24 hours by t'other Brian for wishful thinking speculation!. With a few minutes on my hands, performed a Google on the hosts for the European finals for season 2018/2019. The Champions League Final is very much in the heart of top ranking European footballing nations, being held in Madrid on 1st June 2019. Not such a bad location for access. Pity the fans of teams who get to the final of the Europa League, as it is a long trek to Baku, Azerbaijan on 29th May 2019. So a logistical nightmare to find aeroplanes is likely again as the overland journey would be an epic if from the western edge of Europe! Thank goodness LFC are in the Champions League again next season - if they had failed to keep their English League 4th place, fans would not be pleased at the prospect of a finding ways to get to Baku after the apparent problems at getting enough aeroplane seats/tickets to Kiev this year! Any money on a Chelsea or Arsenal v Burnley 2019 Final in Baku? Mind you, put a few quid on that now and the odds are likely sufficient to pay for a biz-jet to get you there!
