And over here in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes the airport at Chambéry closes down for the summer. What a farce.

My interpretation the person writing the quoted statement relies on a travel department of his London based employers to organise his travel. They have expertise (and discount/rewards?) from London's Airports, so book all employees via London. Equally to me it seems that many travellers now go first to a 'cheap' flights' website, look to see which airlines have direct flights on the routes, then book(the information provided that way much depends on the day of the week selected, not providing a 'bigger' picture of what is available on other days of the week). I feel this guy's ignorance could based on getting others to do the booking for him, rather than him investigating the alternatives from the North West before accepting the London flight - he clearly hasn't or he would be flying SAS from Manchester via Stockholm or Oslo! You are absolutely right, I am sure. When I worked for one of the universities in Liverpool, I had to go to Oslo on a recruitment fair. They used an external company who tried to book me onto SAS from Manchester, changing at Copenhagen at a cost of £800 or so. I pointed out that I could go from Liverpool (as I could in those days) on Ryanair for £17.50, or something similar. The company said the flights did not exist. However, the school director told me to book it direct and I saved the university around £760.

I agree with everyone’s conclusions. If you go to a travel agent wether in the high st or a business agent they will look at the amount of commission they can earn. I don’t think the Lo-co’s pay commission. Whereas the likes of BA and the other major world airlines do. But they don’t operate from Liverpool, so they sell Manchester.

Great to see the Bergen route announce today that it's going to 3 times a week from this November with the addition of a Sunday flight!

They haven't been around for three months as it's seasonal, the football season, the route starts again next Friday.

Isn’t it positive it’s expensive? Only means one thing the flights selling well!

Isn’t it positive it’s expensive? Only means one thing the flights selling well! Not necessarily. I don't know what the original starting price was. I don't know if they use the lo-co business model.Inbound/outbound flights with football fans might command a high price.

LFC has home games with Everton, Watford and Wolverhampton in December - all popular games I would think with supporters who want to pick a good game to see.
This season (2019/2020) word of the Bergen service will have got around, it is now an established route. If you recall a year ago there was only a few weeks between announcement of the route and the flights starting in August. The fact that Wideroe only recently increased the frequency to three times weekly is a sign that the airline must be pleased with forward bookings.

I was just making a casual observation on the original post.

Is it only LFC supporters that come here. To keep things neutral, what about EFC, maybe even the odd Man.U /City. Don't know about Burnley.

Burnley? Do they allow clogs on airplanes?LOL Sorry double clicked. Btw lived in Burnley for sixteen years and they do have a great football team and well supported locally. In a town of eighty thousand twenty thousand will turn out to cheer on the clarets. Used to have a season ticket too.
