Yet another lame duck for LJLA. Hardly called for. When was the last time a Liverpool operator (or planned operator in this case) went bust? euromanx

Both failures mentioned are topics more relevant to the 'Nostalgia' section than for consideration here, being 10+ years ago.
For the record, Flyglobespan failed in 2009 (3 routes, none operating or bookable at time of failure); Euromanx in 2008 (1 route operating in competition with Flybe) and Emerald Airways 2006 (no passenger aircraft, as a freight operator did have a significant effect on Airport figures). The last Liverpool airlines that failed with a considerable effect on passengers and Airport were British Eagle (1968) and Genair (1984) while in I/T airline terms Treffield (1971?). Historically I feel that Inclusive Tour Holiday companies ceasing to trade (or being taken over) probably have had a greater effect on Liverpool Airport's services than failure of Airlines.
Airline operators 'ceasing to trade' (more correct and less emotive than 'going bust') is a fact of life in the aviation industry. Many British operators have gone since those three mentioned above without affecting Liverpool services. Adria with its proposed route still six months away from commencing will become little more than a somewhat insignificant footnote in the Airport's history. Shame though.

Reported that Adria is going to be bought by Arab and Russian investors. Adria will restart with Suchoi ssj aircraft if they get the go ahead. Appears they want to serve holiday destinations first.
