Vanguard your right Man passes are accepted at LPL as are alot of other airport's passes. I remember goin to Belfast a couple of times to carry out training there and my lpl badge was not acceptiable despite having gone through all the checks, strange until you remember that other airports charge for their tempoary badges.

One route that's starting on Nov 1st is Tel Aviv however it's from MAN. We've been by-passed again!

No surprise Dave as the majority of the Jewish Community in the North West is now in and around Manchester. Pity I agree.

Given the security surrounding flights to Israel I really dont think we should be surprised, or even concerned that an airport of manchesters stature is taking a tel aviv flight.

Apparently EasyJet are launching Basel 4 times weekly this winter from Manchester having previously cut the service from Liverpool a few years ago.

Just looking at what EZY does to operate that flight I looked at the first Monday in Feb 2012 and 2013 to compare, they are losing Zurich and Marrakesh and gaining Basle and Tel Aviv. They are also gaining a Belfast rotation but that is with a BFS aircraft. Wednesdays 8th Feb 2012 and 6th Feb 2013: lose - Zurich and Copenhagen; gain - Basle and Berlin. Friday 10th Feb 2012 and 8th Feb 2013: lose - Zurich, gain - Basle. Again they gain a Belfast rotation with a BFS aircraft. Sundays 12th Feb 2012 and 10th Feb 2013: lose - Zurich; gain - Basle.

Im getting rather tired of EZY axing routes from LPL,they seem to temper that with a few crumbs like increased services to the IOM,are we supposed to be grateful for this while at MAN new routes are opened up and services to other places are increased aka Basle. The way things are happening we could end up with just minor routes flying Ansons Federated fruit deliveries of old,we are going backwards here,I say to management at LPL for goodness sake start addressing these problems before it is to late

To be fair to easyjet on the Gibraltar route, the stats for Jan 2012 in another thread have the load at 54%, only Lyon was worse of the airlines Liverpool routes.

The Basle service from LPL was not particularly strong and it is operated ex MAN by swiss at the moment and is not great with them.I would guess as soon as easy go on the route swiss will pull off as there is not demand for both.

One of the main supporters of an EZY route to GIB that was canvassed by the airline is the Liverpool banking industry. Even with the 54% load factor (note the period between Christmas and Easter is always poor) they would have had some good business fares in place. The summer months brought load into the 90% plus bracket.

In that case I echo what Charlie said then, and hope that the gaps in service are plugged by another route and more route closures arent following this one.
