Hi Beemer yes its my first post hello. No its a very strong rumour around the airport lately, I have also spoke to shell who has confirmed that the rumour was true. I really hope its not true. I wonder what the airport marketing are doing behind the scenes. All we seem to be doing is losing business and not replacing it.

Seriously worrying stuff: I tried looking on the ryanair website at lots of destinations on the 15th december and nothing seems to be operating - not even dublin!!! I hope this isn't what I think...

If it turns out to be true so much for O'Leary saying there's be no growth at Liverpool but no reducitons either. If the airport could get another airline to provide routes from here, I'd be glad to see the back of them.

... from the 28th october dublin stops for some reason... (((( Try booking MAN-DUB after 28th Oct too. You can't. I think the simple fact is that the winter flights aren't available yet....before we all get carried away into panic about the world's least favourite airline dumping Liverpool altogether ;-)

Nothing would surprise me about Ryanair, however I doubt if they would pull the plug on LPL,altogether,as they then would not have a bargaining chip,to use agaist other airports, namely Manchester. What I would say, however is the Low cost model seems to be in trouble to a degree,as it relies on growth, which is no longer there anymore,in the massive figures we have seen over the past 10 years or so,I am not saying Ryanair are going bust or anything, but it would not surprise me,if one day they wound up the whole airline, paid a final dividend to the shareholders, and the directors walk away with over £25 million a piece, or so, and do some thing else,My reasoning in this is Ryanair is regarded, in the industry as a wild card, and will always be so, when they have done everthing new,who knows, they might just call it day in future year,At the moment airports are at their mercy, and they(Ryanair) know it!.
The only other I would say isAirlinr staff/crew are usually the last to know whats happening in thier airline, but as always time will tell. my thoughts, no inside knowledge!

Ive just realised that it may just be that the schedule has not yet been uploaded but looking at the destinations from manchester and liverpool there aren't that many that are served from both apart from Ireland and spain destinations so I dont see why they would cut so much frequency. I dont think they will pull out because they wont have anything to bargain with and how long will the manchester base last? I would only put a few years on it before landing fees become too high (unless manchester are offering drastically reduced rates) or they find that the airport itself isn't suited to the low cost model.
Also, if it gets really bad, another airline may step in to fill the gaps (easyJet may expand, wizz air could add more flights to poland etc. ,Jet2...) especially if they feel that they would be better off at LPL than manchester because of ryanair?? And does anyone know if we will be back up to 5,6,7(??) next summer?

This really is starting to get worrying, surely this is just a bad rumour? Or the airport at least has something up it's sleeve?

This rumour only relates to BASED aircraft. If true (which I doubt) it would shift the balance of flights in favour of NON-BASED aircraft,as at Manchester, where most of the Ryanair services originate at the other end. Time will tell, but until the winter schedules are published, this is all speculation.
