Bourgas was always a summer route and will return next summer. I think not starting the other routes until winter the correct thing to do until the UK government get there act together on travel.

Wizz Air has suspended the Saturday rotation to Varna. The flight will operate twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday) until 28th October.
The Varna service was scheduled to operate twice weekly during the winter, but the service has now been suspended until 29th March when it will re-commence again at a thrice weekly frequency.

A typical Winter Saturday looks like this:- 07:55-08:30 Warsaw Chopin 08:20-08:55 Rome Fiumicino 15:25-16:00 Chisinau 21:00-21:30 Bacau 21:00-21:35 Bucharest 21:00-21:45 Vilnius 21:10-21:55 Budapest 21:35-22:10 Tirana
In addition, all of the above will operate on Christmas Day (25th December) and New Year's Day (1st January).
Plenty of scope for aircraft swaps at Liverpool, lol.
Looking at the seating plans, Bacau, Budapest and Vilnius will be operated by A320s, whilst Bucharest, Chisinau, Rome Fiumicino, Tirana and Warsaw Chopin will be operated by A321s.

All those Wizzair flights operating on Christmas Day will certainly upset a lot of Swissport staff in all sections as they usually have the 25th OFF,are well turkey sandwiches for a while.

I was a bit surprised by that, too. In all my years of working in aviation, the one day I never worked was Christmas Day. Christmas is less celebrated in Eastern Europe - New Year is their big thing.

When I went to MAN to work all bank holidays Inc the 25th & 26th Dec.were rostered but most of the time they would ask people who wanted to work to let people with small children to have at least one day off in the holiday period,as you say Liverpool was always shut on the 25th Dec, but tell all the people who want to fly on that day "sorry where closed", working habits have to adapt to what the market wants or fail.

I'm sure I have records of passenger flights using Liverpool on Christmas Day in the 1950s. In the 60s, 70s, 80s certainly Liverpool Airport shut on evening of Christmas Eve and opened up Boxing Day morning. In more recent times I can recall Liverpool Airport staff working a short shift on Christmas Day in the days of the KLM Amsterdam flights. More recently still in 2018 Wizzair operated both a Varna and a Gdansk rotation on Christmas Day (1st in 16:55, 2nd out 22:07), while last year, 2020 there were two Saab 340 freighter flights handled in and out.
It is not just Swissport staff, but also ATC, RFFS, search comb, Customs and Immigration staff who will be needed on duty, along with catering, bar, Duty Free, shop assistants, car parking and additional security staff. Although it is my understanding that a skeleton ATC and security staff do work Christmas Day shifts to cover for any any emergency situation even with the airport closed. So staff being rostered on Christmas Day duty at Liverpool is nothing new, just doesn't happen every year and never before with the number of flights programmed for 2021.
