"on our doorstep" could stir serious conversation. Many airports co-exist near to each other. "doing fine" means standing still when we could be doing more. Liverpool Airport has not yet fulfilled its potential. Quite agree and that goes for the city too.

At a time when the hotel and hospitality industry is financially reeling from the trading restrictions imposed for the past year due to Covid, this investment by Premier Inn could be interpreted as a very great stamp of confidence in the Airport recovering quickly and demand for airport related accommodation increasing.

We have just heard that our airport chaplain is to retire on 30th June after some 15 or more years service. Rev Nicky Lees has been a great ambassador for the airport and will be sorely missed. She was our own "Vicar of Dibley" and was very active in airport matters. Best wishes for a long and happy retirement.

That is sad news she is to retire, let's hope that the management see fit to keep an Airport Chaplin on site for now and the future travelers who are seeking spiritual guidance.

A new chaplain? You won't even need an airport the way this government is acting.

They plan to give arriving passengers access to duty free goods and the previous Smiths unit has a sealed access door to the restricted zone so maybe that is what it will become.

I see WH Smith are taking over the Spar shop in the arrivals area. Currently being fitted out. As a result of the Spar no longer being on site, I searched on the Paypoint website to find somewhere to purchase a Saveaway. Unfortunately it would seem there is nowehre at the airport that will sell a Saveaway (top up on Walrus / Metrocard). I've asked Merseytravel if there will be anywhere else on site that will sell a Saveaway - or any other card product for that matter. I think they will say - no. The inability to purchase tickets on site does seem rather unsatisfactory.

In this day and age most visitors to the city will probably get a saver ticket off the Bus Driver if they are that way inclined.
