Or perhaps down to poor time keeping from airlines? Hardly the airport’s fault if things don’t arrive to time. Wizzair particularly are shocking at the moment - must be a nightmare to deal with. In terms of passenger’s you are doing what you can and at least you are there to answer questions. To be honest, 45 minutes used to be more like the norm for bags on a busy day. People have forgotten The Tirana was on the ground for about 2hrs 15mins , making well over 5 hrs late.poor mainline staff still sorting it out when I left at 0200 this morning. The Wizz air passengers as well seem to have a habit of staying landside when their flight is delayed until the very last moment and then going through security only to realise it’s closed and they miss their own flight. There was several announcements this morning about informing them to head through but I think a lot of them don’t speak English very well so they don’t understand what it’s saying. A few off the Tirana which was originally delayed until 00.45 said shall I go through at midnight I was like go through now and that was about 22.00

You would think they could pre record some standard announcements in relevant first languages. Same could be said for the likes of the Lufthansa service too.

Giving a comparison here to Manchester, our passengers should consider themselves lucky. My daughter flew in on Tui this morning from Cuba. Waited almost 2.5 hours for bags!!! That is ridiculous

I think there is some work been done to the airport stands maybe so all stands can take the max ? As currently it’s only stands 1 and 53 and if it parks on like 5 it can’t have anything either side of it !! There is a notam out saying every aircraft will be getting marshalled onto stand due WIP

Is the max significantly different from an 800 series?

The stands are generally 38m wide and 4m apart so having two aircraft of 39.5m wingspan on adjacent stands really reduces wingtip clearance. I suspect that with the split-scimitar winglets on the Max it also gives much less space to manoeuvre equipment around the aircraft.
Re-marking the stands to provide greater clearance seems a sensible thing if that is indeed what is happening.

Remarking of the apron is scheduled for after the summer season. This is to accommodate the larger wingspans of the newer aircraft now being used.

Except under extreme circumstances. It's a CAA licensing requirement.

Am still convinced people aren’t aware of the free for 40mins drop off zone just 8 minutes away from terminal. Or is that far to far to walk for most people???

People really do get angry at the least little thing these days. It would cost a family of four more to travel to the airport by bus and I bet Theydon get "very angry" at the black cab rip-off prices.

I don't think the black cabs do the airport any favours. I arrived at Edinburgh Airport some years ago, was a much better set up for taxis. You went to an office just before the rank, told them where you were going , they gave you the price on a ticket, and that was it. They must have had an arrangement witha private taxi firm. Worked very well.

Not a fan of the arrangement of the arrivals area were the black cabs are. Wonder Could they put a snake queue out the side door by the WHSmith so they form an orderly queue
