So 6m in the next 2 years? Time to build a direct rail connection to the airport then. I have always advocated a high level link from Parkway down the dual carriageway directly into the airport then on to a Speke/Hale station and rejoining the main line at Ditton. I asked my Polish friend which airport she preferred - Liverpool or Manchester - when she goes home. She likes Liverpool but the advantage to her is the direct rail service from North Wales to Manchester. enough said. I have asked Ken Skates , Welsh Transport Guru, when direct rail service from North Wales to Liverpool will be introduced and still await a reply. Having said that, I do believe that our Mayoral people and the local councils should be pushing for part of the £17m to improve links to the airport. Why build another link to Manchester airport which is already adequately served by rail?

The nearest new build station could be top of the hill on Speke hall avenue after the new LIDL on the corner, whatever that road is called.
But again this country is very anti building

Totally agree. Unfortunately Steve Rotheram is pushing for the '.Glider ' to my mind unless it has its own segregated route, there will be no benefit. A railway station is really the goal for the airport.

It’s barely a few weeks since we last went through this particular doom loop. Can we not go there again?

You don't have to participate.

Ridiculous that this conversation keeps coming up. It is not relevant because the airport is never going to get a dedicated rail line. Live with the status quo as any rail link to the airport will be too expensive and will not give a return on the investment.

Unless a line runs past an airport or handles tens of millions of passengers,it can't be justified, as others are saying.

Manchester Airport train station opened in 1993 when the airport passenger numbers were 13m. Unfortunately I have to agree with the last post

Transport to and from the airport is and will be a continual interest to people here and passengers alike. If people want to discuss it let them, if you don't want to, do some gardening or read a book.

While I agree with much of the first sentence, "Silver City" have you taken on the role of admin/moderator and are now determining forum policy? On a topic (an airport railway station) that admin actually finds incredibly repetitive with nothing new ever offered; while isn't even 'discussion', it's simply you ignoring the wisdom offered by others - becoming a distraction to the forum's main aim of sharing news, information on current events and of nostalgia for past times.
Gardening is great as you are outside and can watch for aircraft passing over, while a book can inform and provide entertainment - good practical activities which I am happy to engage in - I'm not particularly one for spending much time reading rehashed 'pie-in-the-sky, drum-beating', day-dreams. Enough is enough, admin has spoken - oh, and this post is not a topic up for discussion.

As the person who re-ignited this topic, I am surprised at the negative response. Currently transport topics on Merseyside include glider buses, a new Mersey Ferry and the re-development of the Baltic station at close to £100m. Transport is on the move - if you will excuse the pun - and LJLA should be part of the overall plan. Ignoring the future will give the woe-mongers food to gloat at some time in the future. My reasons for raising the subject NOW is to see LJLA properly served in the future. The time to plan is, as I say, NOW!!

You're right but im afraid negativity is quite common on this forum unfortunately .

Just a gentle reminder that it’s not negativity, it’s sticking to the rules of the forum and this particular thread…there are other threads on the forum where you would, I’m sure, be welcome to discuss future transport policy…
