Does anyone know whether there are any works on the bridge over the week-end Saturday 9th & 10th March 2013. I know the slip road back onto the bridge from the Runcorn side was closed before Christmas over the week-end but I expect that work is now completed. Thanks Les McS

Les, too the best of my knowledge there are no road works for at least a few more weeks. There was a notice in the local rag saying some work would start at end of March, maybe. The Halton BC web site has not updated the road works section since November 2012 so I can't see any imminent hold-ups. All the scaffolding has long gone but the fence railing has still to be painted. Isn't it great when you can drive across the bridge knowing you won't be sat there for an hour or so. I will up-date this post as I hear of work commencing. Regards Beemer.

Thanks Brian, Starting my trips to North Wales again tomorrow I did check the website and as you say it's not been updated for sometime. I looked at the webcam at 1645 today and the traffic was flowing nicely both ways. Thanks again for the update. Regards Les McS

Yes, but be aware that now that the works are complete the police are taking the opportunity to hide behind lamp-posts with their hairdyers. I was caught about 10 days ago

Errr, yes Bob, a rather condescending response there, but if I tell you that these are the first speeding points I've had for about 25 years, you'll perhaps realise that I'm not in the habit of exceeding speed limits, despite often driving more than 20,000 miles per year.
To take this a stage further I have twice phoned the police on 101 in recent weeks, only for my call to go unanswered. It seems they cannot provide enough staff to deal with a system they set up, but when it comes to extracting money from the hard-pressed motorist, they can always find someone to hide behind a lamp-post.

Wake up, lads - this is not a policing exercise, it is a fund-raising exercise to help meet the local councils rate increases imposed by Eric Pickles.

Wake up, lads - this is not a policing exercise, it is a fund-raising exercise to help meet the local councils rate increases imposed by Eric Pickles. How right you are! The one day course now costs £70! Well my money's staying in my pocket. I'm so old that car insurance is not that expensive anyway, so it's not worth £70 to spend a day being lectured by some holier-than-thou police officer from Cheshire Constabulary just for the sake of not getting three points on my licence.

A disgruntled English attendee at one of these speed awareness courses in Wrexham was shown the camera logo used on the roadside and was asked what it meant. "Welcome to Wales," he replied. His feet did not touch!

Les, bad news. As reported by yours truly some work/ I assume work will commence a week on Sunday, 24th March. I have posted a photo of the matrix for your perusal. Regards Beemer. Has any one tried to photograph a Matrix sign with a digital camera. The camera appears to go haywire. I think the LED's in the sign are flashing continuously and the camera can't focus correctly. I think

Beemer, Its because the LEDs reload constantly so it may look as if they are static. They flash over all the time as all modern buses have them these days so if you change the speed your shutter takes the picture at its possible to catch them. Knew being a bus nut would answer something one day
