Blue Air. Like any other European Airline does not need fifth freedom rights. As a European Airline they free to travel from any European Airport to any UK airport. That's the whole point of EASA,. all for one and one for all... This is a bad commercial decision perhaps brought on by other pressing considerations. When I sold my 172 last year to a Romanian guy he seemed to know a lot about goings on in Blue Air. He told me a few things. I am not surprised with the turn of events.

Groundhog Day syndrome.
They over extended themselves with expanded route network and aircraft orders several years ago and had to pull back. Although it´s not the same management, it appears to be a repeat. Nothing was learnt.

With Wizzair competing on Romanian routes, one wonders just for how longer we will see Blue Air on Merseyside.

I see that Blue Air has provisionally set up a schedule for a Bucharest/Heathrow service at twice per week.

And blue air looking to add AMS/FRA/CDG too. Looks like blue air are going through a slight strategy shift by going into larger airports....

Whilst it is an immediate loss to Liverpool we don't have to be so down-beat surely. Better we ensure their remaining Romanian services are known to people and the relationships maintained in order that Liverpool once again features in their plans once the B.... thing is settled.

The B thing isn't the reason why it's cut routes from a number of cities, it is just a convenient excuse.

Give it a rest, LPL. Brexit is a contributory factor, but not the only reason. I would cite poor loads as the main driver.

No Bacau showing on either the LJLA boards or FR24 for tomorrow Wednesday 6th. Seems that it's every other week during March on a Wednesday - back to weekly in April.

YR-BMA our former resident B737-79P was ferried from Bucharest Otopeni (OTP) to Tuscon yesterday. Presumably it has left the fleet either for re-sale or conversion to beer cans ?
