Looks like Vueling got off to a great start on Friday. The airport's Twitter posted that the first outbound flight was a sell out. Good idea to begin the service over the Easter break.

What is missing now is the flight into LPL and then back to BCN on the Thursday.
What would make sense would be if they back into the mix the early morning flight from BCN to LPL on the Wednesday with the return to BCN dep LPL at around 1345 on the Thursday.

Vueling will discontinue services between Liverpool and Barcelona at the end of the summer timetable in October.
The airline will not operate the route during the winter and has no plans to return to Liverpool next summer.
Vueling has uploaded it's Summer 2017 UK to Barcelona schedule and will continue to operate from Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Luton, Manchester and Newcastle.

The second biggest market to BCN outside London and we couldnt make it work. The only thing I can guess is the other Airports are badly underserved so they have been able to find decent loads/yields while with us its been a bit of a bloodbath. Very frustrating.

Manchester now has 5 operators to Barcelona, Jet2, Monarch, Norwegian, Ryanair and Vueling. I think the bloodbath there has affected Liverpool.

Vueling has uploaded it's Summer 2017 UK to Barcelona schedule and will continue to operate from Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Luton, Manchester and Newcastle. To be fair they never planned to operate the service during the winter - it was always billed as a 'summer only' operation. It's a pity if they don't return but from my occasional viewing of Vueling fares, I think they simply priced themselves out of the market.

They were competitive on fares they offered Liverpool to Barcelona and return for 18 euros recently.
The early morning timings on a Sunday probably did not help though!

bad news travelling with them july preferred earlier flight time plus cheaper on my dates than ryanair with better baggage allowance, however when booked an extra passenger last week looking at seat choice plane not even 1/3 full so suppose load factors main issue

Given the numbers to BCN are one of the highest pax uplift ex LPL, there must be a question mark against the awareness of the Vueling service.

Given the numbers to BCN are one of the highest pax uplift ex LPL, there must be a question mark against the awareness of the Vueling service. Yes Barcelona is third in line after Dublin and BFS for most number of seats available. For May 2016 this was 32K with EZY 50%, RYR 36% and Vueling 14%(4464 seats). No of pax usually vies with Palma for third place and in May 2015 was 25K with 26K seats available (seats up 23% in 2016).

Not good to hear of a new operator leaving LPL so soon. Barcelona is a well established and well served route from here, however Vueling gave some connection possibilities and part of the BA group. They have given up very quickly, then again maybe they should have served a less or unserved route to Spain from Liverpool. Just read they are setting up a Canaries base.

Vueling is a sister company of BA, and like BA, Aer Lingus and Iberia, are part of the IAG Group.
Vueling is to establish a base at Tenerife South. UK destinations announced so far are Birmingham and Manchester.
Let's hope the rumours of IAG taking over Wizz Air do not come to fruition!

If Vueling did Tenerife South to Liverpool that would be an almost guaranteed success. Its ridiculous how underserved we are. The new Thompson flights are a different market.
