It does seem odd they should drop route having only just launched it. I often feel Liverpool Airport's route network is precarious, considering the demand and worldwide fame of Liverpool City, KLM , Norwegian, Flybe (Amsterdam) and now Vueling gone. Now even more important to keep Aer Lingus here.

Having read posts elsewhere, can I ask Ametyst where the statement that Vueling "has no intention of returning next year" has come from? It's rather final!

Their app isn't showing the flights next summer and neither is the website.
However the website calendar is set up from 1 June.

By website calendar do you mean other flights are showing from 1 June?

No the actual calendar is set up from 1 June.
From November this year to the end of May next year the calendar is greyed out.

I've been told they are returning next year but they have dropped Belfast/Barcelona. We need to be more positive and not spread rumours. People who matter read this site and are frustrated sometimes how negative some posters are.

I'm guessing that the airport's relationship with Vueling must still be fairly positive as the airline is supporting / sponsoring a 'behind the scenes' tour next week for one of the city business networks.

This does look very positive. Hopefully it might tie in with an announcement. Fingers crossed ?

Cardiff and Liverpool to Barcelona are not bookable from the end of October. However, the Cardiff route re-commences from the 26th March and is bookable until the end of July 2017.
Services from Birmingham, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Luton, Manchester and Newcastle to Barcelona are all bookable throughout the winter months until the end of July 2017.
Statements that Vueling are going to discontinue the Belfast to Barcelona route is interesting as the airline does not presently fly that route.

What should provide a bit of a boost to the BCN route will be Espanyol playing Everton at Goodison on Saturday 6 August.

I am sure that won't be enough for them to return next summer. Equally, it may boost easyjet and Ryanair too
