Apologies if this has been covered I've just read on a Manchester group that FedEx are moving its MAN-BHX-CDG operation to LPL as its a cheaper option. Is this true and if so any idea when it will commence?

It's just a rumour at this stage. Last I heard FedEx were actually increasing MAN with a Copenhagen B757 flight from March and have put a fair bit of investment into MAN.

Apologies if this has been covered I've just read on a Manchester group that FedEx are moving its MAN-BHX-CDG operation to LPL as its a cheaper option. Is this true and if so any idea when it will commence? Could well be the classic "We'll move if you don't reduce your fees" play by Fed Ex? (Or should that be ASL) - Spread rumor. However if true and Man are trying it on with airlines who use them at present, it could mean others might look at the same alternative? I believe that the old Post Office building is still empty. Ideal for 2 flights a day to start. "From acorns mighty oaks can grow." I have a belief that MAG's do not see themselves as a regional airport and are being very successful in attracting many new international airlines. If they are putting up fees this might force the smaller operators away. Even Ryanair are expanding again at LPL.

It maybe a case, if true, of MAN thinking they can charge what they want as FedEx have a facility there.
What are the timings currently of this service and aircraft used?

The TNT facility at Liverpool in recent times has only been used as a ditribution Centre with trucks arriving from other airports. FedEx were in the process over taking over TNT - not sure if all the legals have been completed yet. So by acquisition FedEx may already have a facility at LPL.

I've been told the rumour isnt true. It's started as a 'friend of a friends cousin told me' type rumour.
On speaking to someone who would know at MAN, they have just signed a new contract until 2018 with FedEx at MAN in the last 2 weeks, so, hardly a catalyst for a move.

from another site it is speculated that fed-ex will leave MAN at the end of december due to increased fees for cargo aircraft.apparently their contract ends on 31st dec 2017.it is also speculated that they are trying to get the LH freighter flights to use EMA.all this to free up apron space for passenger aircraft during the re-development works.whether fed-ex would move to LJLA is anyones guess but it seems to suggest they won't be going to EMA. the supposed memphis and copenhagen flights were pulled before starting due to the handling charge increases. - please don't shoot the messenger, just thought this might be of interest to someone.

If only we had a runway long enough to handle their aircraft and a decent cargo shed? Runway perfectly capable of handling the B757 / ATR traffic currently routing through MAN. Suspect could cope fairly well with a B77F too. As for cargo sheds we have 3 plus spare hangar space and Peel is planning two large sheds on land to the north of the airport opposite the old sports field.
