A very interesting potential new resident is Marquart MA-5 Charger G-CMPJ - registered to Aviation Park Group 21/08/2023. More about the type can be found here - www.marquartcharger.org/It's only the third of the type on the UK Register, one of the other two (G-BVJX) came to grief at Barton just over 2 years ago. MP

Hi folks, does anyone know if the Cessna 401 2-AZFR is still a resident at Hawarden ? It flew to Hurn on July 4th and if ADSB Exchange is to be believed it has not flown since. MP

Using many vintage brain cells here so could be well wide of the mark. I seem to recall when I was a balcony spotter in probably the 70s?? A Cessna 401 G-AZFR used to be quite a regular visitor. Seem to recall it had a yellow and possibly black colour scheme. Is this the same one by chance?

Yes, G-AZFR was a regular at Liverpool right through the '70s and into the early '80s.
G-AZFR an 8 seater Cessna 401B C/no.401B-0121 was imported from new by Westair Ltd at Blackpool, registered with the CAA 30.09.71. Purchased by Johnson Group Cleaners Ltd of Bootle, it replaced a Cessna 310 G-ATDL. G-AZFR first visited Liverpool Airport 04.10.71 and between 10/71 and 06/80 my movement data-base lists 457 visits to Speke, or over 4 times every month on average during a little over a 9 year period. During 10/77 ownership was modified to Johnson Group Management Services Ltd. It was replaced by Cessna 414A G-JGCL which first called at Liverpool 19.06.80, with G-AZFR having made a visit the day before. It appeared on just a handful of occasions in 1981, likely while G-JGCL was on planned maintenance. Having been traded-in to Westair it was owned for a while by Shorrock Security Systems, with CAA recording the change of ownership 3/82. It continued to be based at Blackpool with a series of ownership switches, until sold by Westair Ltd to RE Wragg of Guernsey in 12/01. RE Wragg cancelled the G-AZFR registration as 'sold in USA' during 04/12.
On the USA register it became N7981Q. It was re-registered in Guernsey as 2-AZFR 04/15. So yes, although now in a different colour scheme, it is the same 52 year old aircraft.
