Work has started on the SJB Silver Jubilee bridge. Workmen's cabins and fences installed and road barricaded off. Great shots Beemer,
Actually had to use the footbridge earlier due to the strength of the wind coming home from the football.... Needless to say it was a lot safer pushing the bike over!

You can use the new one free of charge. I am aware of that, to be honest it was the strength of the wind on the way home that made the decision for me. On my way over this afternoon I was blown into the small lane at the side of the three lanes, hardly any wind protection at all!

A couple of photos from to-day showing the scaffolding going up and how much TLC is required on the bridge with all the rust. North side Bridge 1b by Beemer328i, on Flickr South side Bridge 1a by Beemer328i, on Flickr Beemer.

While these photographs certainly show the urgent need for 'tlc', it is noticeable just how well the work done on the underside and both ends (mostly at night and weekends, around 2-4 years ago?) appears to be standing up to the elements. With no traffic on the bridge, working on the metal spans should be much easier now that they are above a sterile building site and not an in-service public road. They appear to starting at both ends to meet at the top and have wasted little time before commencing the work, especially as it is now winter weather.
Beemer, it certainly looks like your regular Mersey Crossings photo sessions are not yet at an end!
Any photos of the pristine new bridge since it was opened - I assume the river crossing underneath, supports and other temporary features of the build are now removed, or are they?

Viscount the temporary trestle bridge is still the same. I thought they would be starting to pull the piles out by know. Beemer.
