Excelent set of pictures, I must go out & Get some more railway shots, but most of the services in my area are operated by multiple units. Lets go back to Loco Hauls & Coaches!!!!
I have a contact within Freightliner, so I will get the heads up for Class 70 operstions in my area, but I thing it is an UGLY Loco, reminding me of 2 class 20's operating togrther

Do the trains to Fiddlers Ferry operate to a time table? I was at the marina for a hour or so the other week (camera in hand) but didn't see a single one.

I get the train from Bank Quay to Runcorn East on days I work at Warrington, at about 15:30 most days a Class 70 freight goes under the station from I think Fiddlers Ferry. Last week 70004 was seen. Bob

To all the train spotters out there... can you advise please... is there such a thing a a freight train schedule on line anywhere... Do they run to a set time or are they ad hoc as and when services...
Curious to know if they have a timetable anywhere.. with departure times and destinations - routes taken etc..

Freightliner run to a timetable, years ago you could buy a timetable, I'm sure its still the same. Ian Allan books are good for this type of thing.

Have to be careful how I answer here ! All trains including Freight run to a timetable but a lot of freight trains don't run on their booked paths. Example is a train company has a path every day but only runs it on a monday/wednesday/friday. Also a lot more Freight is run at short notice so is only planned a week or two before running. Freightliner intermodal do run a regular services. I think that there is still a book that can be bought that lists the booked freights train paths ( but as stated above it can be hit or miss if the train actually runs !). Think they were called Freightmaster book or something like that. As for trains talking to each other by radio - no they don't , signalboxes can send emergency broadcasts to all trains in area but not the other way round. As far as I know drivers are not allowed to use phones/radios etc when driving. hope that helps explain things ! Nick
