Wellsie, Don't walk from South Parkway, or you'll be creased! last night it seemed "doable" but tonight it seems "silly" so i'll deffo get the train to LSPW then get the 501 to the doorstep of the airport See if you can get the bus driver to drop you just inside the turn off the public road into the Airport. If he takes you right into the Airport, walk out by the route the bus has entered by (not the car exit route), then then right once you reach the public road. It is a fair hike. Ignore the entrance into TNT depot and once past the blue hangars behind an earth bank, take the first right. After a short time next right into GA car park, or continue on through the approach traffic lights to the 'mound' on the left, shortly after passing a closed off road junction from left. Don't be shy about talking to anyone sat in a car with a big lensed camera - chances are they are a forum member, so introduce yourself. Just ask "Are you aware photos of today's activity will appear on the nwan forum" and you'll find out who you are talking to when the answer is "Yes, they'll be mine!" thats great stuff thanks. out of the terminal so to speak, right and walk parrell with the runway, then right again, then ive got the choice of going back on myself (GA carpark im taking to be the flight school/training place?) or towards the end of the runway if it's p'ing it down i'll probably stay in doors and keep dry until we go to southport on the sunday but i dont mind the walk otherwise cheers will do viscount, im sure it'll be busy with spotters with it being a rare occasion of having so much military action in the same weekend once a year ;-)

Thanks for confirmation on the Tuc callsign Beemer, I'm sure at one point he confused himself with 1FTS usual 'SWIFT'!

Viscount, can you confirm callsign of the GR4s was POKER? Cheers A Poker (1/2/3).

Hi,
Am I right in thinking that the extra Hawks are there for one to display on each day ( I am a bit confused as there seems to be three or four but only 1 down to display each day).
Same for the tornados, are there three of them so there is one spare, as there are just two displaying each day.
Sorry if those questions are silly, I new to all this aircraft talk!

Welcome to the forum.
I was not there all afternoon, and am too confused. It appears that the formation pair 'Python' performed a go-around only and returned to Valley. The 'display' Hawk in the Union jack 'wrap-around' colours landed, to night stop for Southport 'role demonstration' display (downgraded from aerobatic routine), then the two later appearances by Hawks both performing go-arounds, returning to RAF Valley. This leaves only one Hawk landing, which is unusual as routinely there is also a 'spare' aircraft as a 'back-up'.
Indeed of the 3 Tornado GR.4s, only two will perform at Southport, and likewise one of the Tucano T.1s is a 'spare' aircraft that will remain on the ground at LJLA all weekend.

XX220 Hawk landed after is go-around, and should be the spare aircraft. He managed to get lost on the taxiway after landing.
Also a Spitfire using the call-sign Spitfire960 performed a flypast at around 18:30 routing from North to South.

Wellsie,
Not sure what ticket you'll be using for your journey but if you haven't already got one purchase a Saverway from the station. That way you get cheap travel for both train and bus.
Follow Viscounts excellent instructions but when you get to the airport transfer onto the the 89 bus. This will drop you off at the back of the GA hangars from there its just a short walk to the GA or the 27 mound.
Hope the weather holds out for you and that you have a great time at the airport.
Steve
