The opening date may be delayed as they are having problems with the roof. ::)They have had some water leaks and are investigating where the problem is occuring. The footbridge foundation work should have started by now but they still say it will happen.

fire alarm went off this morning at the hotel at about 07:50. 2 fire engines turned up along with terminal duty managers. is this the normal procedure if the alarm goes off do fire brigade automaticaly turn out with the airport being such a big site? if so the same thing happens at my college

Unless the fire brigade are pre warned that you are undertaking a fire drill they will always turn up. This tends to happen a lot at schools and colleges as the kids seem to think its fun to set the alarms off. Their probably too young to realise (or even care about) the danger their putting other people in and not just those in burning properties either.

yes anytime the alarm goes off in college 2 fire engines are automaticaly sent and if its a false alarm its £500 per fire engine the college is fined.

Wow! 1k, lets hope it encourages the staff to find the little (not so angelic) angel's who are doing it.

i think sometimes its accidently set off by fabrication and welding with all there equipment. its a real pain as there is about 15 in my group so imagine 20 odd studnets per class having to be evacuated each time.

Does anybody know whether work has currently stopped at the hotel.
I don't see too much happening and I appreciate that they could be fitting it out, but the end facing Western Avenue has still not been clad, and there is still plastic sheeting where some of the windows have not been fitted.
SteveT used to give regular updates, perhaps Steve might be able to answer.

Sorry to sound a little numb here but is this the Holiday Inn we're talking about?
