Liverpoolman, I had an 'old fashioned' education, way before text speak. There is no need for the rudeness or snobbery, abbreviations are very much part of internet forums, and aviation (to which there are many abbreviations, and I have noticed previously you have snubbed those too), so I suggest if you perhaps get used to that fact if you are to continue using internet forums, particularly aviation ones.

Air Passenger Duty not harming the airline industry? Can't agree there. Taking Air Passenger Duty out of the seat cost means that more people will consider flying. Reducing the cost of anything creates demand. Demand is what industry - not just the airline industry - needs at the moment. If it is harming the industry, why is the industry ordering new aircraft, why has Ryanair shifted routes to Manchester instead of axing routes all together. An airline doesn't collapse because of air duty tax. It collapses due to bad management. You could liken it to when fuel duty was frozen and cut, we didn't see a drop at the Petrol pumps. We were losing out but the oil companies and governments were rubbing their greedy dirty little hands together, but we took the costs because we need our cars. It is an excuse the airlines can use to deflect bad publicity where jobs have been cut. A flight doesn't become non profitable because passengers have to pay tax. A flight is usually cut because there is more money to be made elswhere (KLM ) Airlines and holiday companies blame taxes and drops in passengers to hide bad management poor book keeping. We have so many comparison sites on line these days, there is always a cheaper deal, for passengers. The drop in passengers is more likely linked to the rise in unemployment and companies spending less, not a tax.

Various off-topic posts deleted
It's a shame all these type of threads invariably end up in this kind of tedium - this one did last a bit longer though.
If the next posting here isn't back on the actual subject, I will just delete the entire thread and any others that follow this "I know more than you but am not telling" rubbish (plus the person who posts it). I am not going to have any more slanging matches on here.....yawn.
