I have to say, from one who lives outside of the UK, and although a bit right wing, not really a Royalist, I have been mightily impressed with the celebrations in the last four days. I have been impressed with the organisation: this bodes well for the Olympic celebrations: the design of the various events and the technical perfection with which they have been carried out. I have been impressed with the enthusiasm of the people. Yes I know some have only gone along to "be there" but it seems to me that genuine affection was being displayed. If not for the Monarch then certainly for the nation. I have been impressed by the diversity of those who have expressed their affection for the Monarch and the nation: many of whom by virtue of their appearance, skin colour and accent I might not have readily seen as automatic supporters. I have been impressed with individual efforts such as the choristers who sang their hearts out in the pouring rain on that boat on Sunday, and the young gardener chap with artificial legs who was chosen to go to the dinner in Westminster hall. Certainly amongst my friends in France this has been an impressive weekend, We went down to the aero club on Sunday evening and as we entered, everybody was lined up as a sort of guard of honour. Of course it was only a bit of fun, but It seems that Janette and I were seen as ambassadors to our country and with all the drinks lined up on the bar, everybody wanted to toast the Queen.
All of this can only be good for the country. Enjoy and well done.

Well said Ron - I applaud and endorse your critique of the celebrations.
It must be remembered that despite all that is wrong with this country at the moment - from having no battleship grey Harriers to the pair of posh tossers in charge - we are still the greatest nation on the planet.
Now in celebration let's nuke France and turn it into a lorry park. LOL ;D

Vive l'entente cordiale---ps never throw nukes at those who can throw back.LOL
I have never been a royalist but our French friends certainly are--one said that we have someone to respect who is honest and not a damned politician--and that anything is better than socialism and president coco the clown.
Me I just drink my glass of Chardonney from the village vinyards and watch pictures of the Raphaeils taking off from France's nuclear aircraft carrier--hope they are not making a preemptive strike up north.LOL ;D

Not to take anything away from the spectacle, and the first class turn out by all concerned, It did cross my mind, when watching the flotilla of 1000 boats, that in Queen Victoria's time, or even only 60 years ago, the flotilla might have been in the Solent and the 1000 ships would have been a bit larger.

Well Ron one thing is certain Queen Victoria had a few more Naval Ships she reviewed 150 of the Home Fleet at Spithead alone JJ

We should have kept HMS Vanguard-what a helicopter carrier ,cruise missile launching Argy frightening thing she would have been--the Yanks kept one of their older big ships for years and used it in Iraq I think. Well the bean counters would have stopped it anyhow--and they did. Would have made a better Turner picture when it went to the scrappers than the Fighting Temerere in my opinion.
