Last year the Tucano, Blades, Swip team, Wingwalkers, Black Cats, Meteor, Mustang, Spitfire and Battle of Britain memorial flight were all based at RAF Woodvale last year. It was a brilliant day down at Woodvale last year so I hope they are all based here again. I'm assuming Blackcats, Army Lynx, Sea King, Merlin, Blades and usually the hanger 11 Spit, Swordfish and SeaFurry will be based again this year if I was a betting man.

Heard from staff in the AVP today that the Lancaster is going into Man on Sat 14th as they are celebrating the Airports 75th year. Also would like to say that there is a rumour that the Vulcan will not be flying at the show, it seems as though they have discovered a fuel leak and the latest news it might need a new tank fitting. Hoping things might change. Peter

Hi Peter, I have the Vulcan team on twitter and indeed they discovered a fuel leak. Last update from them was that they were assessing the damage. If repairable it will fly, if it isn't then indeed a new tank needs to manufactured. I sadly can't see it flying but I hope it will! And there is a replacement for the cancellation of the Tutor, its a Bulldog.

I've posted this up on the page to see if we any kind of response is given: "If the leak which grounded the from Vulcan flying at the weekend is found to take a longer then we currently have till the Airshow to fix, is there anything lined up to take its place this close to it, or would the show finish after the Merlin display on the Sunday?" If there's nothing confirmed though then it'll finish over an hour earlier than last year!

Hope you get a response! Sadly can't see what would replace it to bring the crowds in. Would be good to see the meteor there again. I personally was going to go to Woodvale on the Saturday and then the show on Sunday (weather depending) to see the Vulcan. Might as well if weather is good both days just go on the Saturday now instead but we'll see! Is anyone making the trip to Woodvale this year?

Oh and there is the flypast in Dublin celebrating 100 years of aviation in Ireland on the Sunday. Would be good if a few of them transit back to the UK via Southport. I wish

In all honesty, I'd like to see the Sea Vixen or even the recently restored to flight Canberra there, but if they announced the Meteor then for me that would be Ideal! I may head to Woodvale on the Sat evening as I'm staying over in Southport on the fri/sat night to see if there's anything to log at all! Here's some food for thought though, Look at the majority of the free airshows around the UK, and look at what they've managed to pull in to display, with this in mind wouldn't it be ideal if next year Southport could get a wider variety in? Eastbourne: F-16, Dassault MD315 Flamant, Matadors Aerobatic Team, Sunderland: Dutch Apache Demo Team, Buchon, P-51 Mustang, P-51 Mustang, P-40 Kittyhawk
