Thanks kevmul and to all who spotted this resource. The Ehiopian entry ref 10377 for 25th/26th/27th May states "ET-AVB, ET-AUO or ET-ATQ" which are A350 (x2) and (1x) B787-9 regs, any of these will be a great sight at LPL...or I have misread something both LPL and MAN are on the list.

That's the way I read it; hope I've got it right. Two of the three will fly out of LPL, the third out of MAN. Kev

If I was the MD of the airport, I would arrange for FOLA to hire an open top bus, and park it on one of the tracks on the south side of the runway, and charge spotters just enough to cover the costs. Probably £5 a time would cover it.

According to the list, Photo friendly flight times as well for the Ethiopean outbounds and returns from/to MAN and LPL, it doesnt get any better for our NW spotters & toggers.

Just something about this CAA list. I understand it to be the details quoted by the CAA are now approved by them.
It does not mean, however, they will operate. Is my understanding correct?

In essence, a non-EU airline has to apply for permission from the National Authority to operate a charter from that country. The charterer has to show that no (in this case) British operator could do the job. It may be 'open skies' within the EU, but not if you wish to use an aircraft of an operator based outside it. Once upon a time these were (I think) 5 Levels of Freedom for aviation operators, and once upon a time I could quote them!
