A new set of toilets (already in place, but not commissioned) will be opened airside towards the easyJet area. In addition other airside toilets will be refurbished and the Executive Lounge area is to be re-vamped and the lounge re-located. Are these located near gate 1? If so, they are already open. They were the facilities that I said were good (in my post above). BTW - good to hear the landside toilets are on the agenda. Can't happen soon enough.

"The area close to where the present landside toilets are, will become a Starbucks." Not much of an alteration then really.

Every time I travel through LPL I have to report smoking in the toilets to airport staff, and I'll only believe they care about good quality loos when they finally show themselves willing to do something about it. The fact that they're breaking the law by failing to prevent smoking in enclosed public spaces despite being informed about it doesn't seem to bother anyone in management.

Every time I travel through LPL I have to report smoking in the toilets to airport staff, You must be about the unluckiest guy going. I visit these toilets at least three times a week every week and have never experienced that. I take it you are talking about the gents. Whilst I will agree with others here that they do need a referb and an additional set is long overdue, I can't say that I have ever found them to be dirty. In fact I often find them closed for cleaning which is a pain as I have to travel for another hour before I can use a different set. Having said that (and before you all start jumping down my throught), it is a very busy airport and I might be touching lucky in getting there just after they've been cleaned and the smoke has cleared. Can't see that though

I go airside at least once a month, the last time being at Christmas and the toilets near Gate 1 are clean but people do smoke in there. Now wether this was because of the many delayed flights and the people just don't have the will power to hang on or they are just abusing the No Smoking laws, I don't know but it isn't pleasant and lets hope someone at the airport gets to grips with it. And on a side note, this isn't the first time I've noticed this, I was once delayed 10 hours for a flight to Poland and some people was even having a quick smoke as they walked to the plane!!

I know for security reasons pics are probably a no no, but are there any updates as to progress of the work, is it nearly finished, I have not been able to get down for a while and last time I was there it still resembled a construction site...

Yes the gents but airside rather than landside, and yes it's a little less than 3 times a week! (Once or twice a month, though, and it happens with a still alarming frequency.)

Me too, (with bad luck) but in all fairness I use the airport infrequently which is about two or three times a year but I can't count the amount of times I have asked people to stop smoking in the toilets. Hope it doesn't sound like I am "jumping down your throat".

I travelled through for the first time for a year or so last Saturday. I had tried to avoid the place and I am ashamed to admit always looked to travel from Manchester as it provides a far more pleasant "customer journey". The security was such that 30 mins to Manchester was worth the trip. However I was very pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of the new security area. The design works well and it was hard to imagine that I was walking through a hangar to get into departures.
Decent catering areas and plently of seating. Compared with Amsterdam which has very sparse seating areas and very overpriced beer!.I will use the place again.
Only gripe would be that arrivals was filthy , and the tunnels to get to the Easyjets were littered with rubbish. Does nobody ever clean these areas?

The Liverpool Echo tonight includes another long list of complaints from customers about various problems at the Airport including the changes to the drop off charges and the state of the building.
The new Canadian owners who were supposed to be going to improve the Airport will be getting a worse reputation than the two departed Texans who promised the same to Liverpool FC.

There is not a charge to drop off.
There is a charge that starts if you take longer than five minutes to empty your car of baggage though.

I have always supported charges at the airport, as they can usually be avoided. This latest change, though, is totally wrong as five minutes is just not enough time. If I am dropping off, perhaps I could get to the exit within the time limit, but then if there is a queue, or the person in front has missed out and is blocking the exit, then I will be delayed and incur the charge. This is like ly to lead to car park rage!
Is there a nearby pay machine that will allow you to register that you are leaving and then allow more time to exit?
I have little confidence in the management who made this decision. Are they the same people involved in the CATIII ILS farce that cost the airport dozens of flights yesterday?
