I have little confidence in the management who made this decision. Are they the same people involved in the CATIII ILS farce that cost the airport dozens of flights yesterday? This is just another money spinner for them and lots of people are getting caught out. If you spend 6 minutes from entering to leaving, that's £2.00 please. But don't get caught behind any ditherers at the pay machine because if you take more than 15 minutes from entry it rockets up. At £3.50 for an Arriva day ticket, it would be cheaper to park the car in the retail park and get the bus in. That way you can say goodbye to everyone at the airport at your leisure and take a wonder round the retail park on your return. So, if you don't want the Airport to take you for a ride - get the bus. ;D Below is a photo of the old parking charges. Note the waiting time was 10 minutes and not 5 as it is now and this is what's catching people out.

I would suggest that under advertising rules they cannot put the price up without having the correct signage in place when the price becomes operational. It is tantamount to 'switch selling'.

They do have the new signage in place, the photo above is of the old tariff. The problem is, people who have used the drop-off area before before still think it's free for the first 10 minutes and don't bother to read the new sign. It's their own fault but how many people would think that the time limits would change and not the prices? Just a few years ago it was the first 30 minutes free, now its down to 5.

The new tariff is displayed before entry to the drop off/short stay area.
It was certainly being displayed last Tuesday (18th January) evening.

The fine is, if memory serves, around £60.

Why not leave the free time as 10 minutes or even 15 then increase the charge for those who delay their exit. That way they make money anyway and do not upset the passengers or people dropping off.

I think that they have reduced the time allowed and increased the cost for those that exceed the time to make sure they annoy as many people as possible.

All shop frontages in the retail area are eventually to have a common frontage design.
It wont be done all in one go but over a period of time to coincide with the months with less passenger throughput (the winter period minus the time around Christmas)

I see that another northwest airport has stopped vehicles from picking up anywhere within the airport boundary.
The airport has forced vehicles that are picking up/dropping off into the short stay car parks. Minimum fee for siad car parks is £2.

From where I am standing I cannot see the north west airport to which you refer. Does it have a name?

Read it again and its 'are to be fined if they collect them from anywhere other than designated drop-off zones.
Bosses [MAN] want motorists to use short-stay car parks – meaning they will have to fork out a minimum of £2'.
