I was under the (clearly erroneous) impression from the early information released that the IoM route was a lunchtime, off-peak operation. Are all the weekday IoM flights first rotation departures? The times depend on which day the flights are. Is Belfast really down to just two rotations a day - quite a fall for this once very busy route. The above are only for LPL based aircraft, I have taken out those flights that are flown by BFS based aircraft. Which day of the week have you based your painstaking research on? Saturday 28th August. Hopefully the 45 minute gap after the PMI flight will be filled with another based aircraft.

Is Belfast really down to just two rotations a day - quite a fall for this once very busy route. Another point arising from looking at the schedules is that there is no flights to any Belfast airport by EZY or FR after 1715 on a Saturday night that enables visitors from the province to watch football in the city (season 2010/11) on Saturdays and return home on the same day. Is this another pointer to say not all schedules have been finalised.

Just to clarify the IOM is only switching to an early departure on a Saturday - the weekday flights stay at around midday, the Sunday flight is in the evening
As for Belfast, checking a random Saturday in September (the 11th) Ryanair offers a 20:10 departure to Belfast City. Perhaps your choice of August Bank Holiday weekend was just throwing up some anomolies?

In an article in todays Echo, Easyjet have complained about pax missing their flights due to queues at security & have stated that more staff are required. The airport have replied stating that they are not aware of any pax missing their flights recently. (I am personally not aware of any either, but I do know of several who have missed flights with EZY whose check in staff appear to be much more stringent at check-in than previously, barring pax who were in the queue but not checked in on time due to queues at check in). However, I've no idea if its EZY or the airport who is correct.
Unfortunately as the Echo is now even closer to the Daily Mirror stable, it has a tendency to highlight any anti-Liverpool issues out of all proportion.
However, I am surprised at this statement by EZY at this time, because they are aware of the new developments which will eleviate this in just a few months time and that additional staff without additional equipment to match will not solve the problem.
Therefore one has to ask is this EZY posturing (RYR style) to use any excuse to transfer flights away, or at least defer expansion?
Hopefully I am a mile out

A new regime is about to take control at easyJet with appointment of a new CEO from Guardian Media (Media = Manchester friendly, Liverpool downtrodden). Perhaps easyJet will take the credit for the new Security area when it opens.
easyJet is enjoying an upsurge in passengers this month, the airline should have kept its powder dry until June and if the new arrangements do not work then eastJet should, quite rightly, scream.
But easyJet, is not entirely innocent in all of this as they encourage passengers, more than any airline, to take carry on baggage on to the aircraft, and on-line check-in has bought its own problems, hence the new security area. Peel are investing £12.5 million in improving the security area and I bet none of that money can be re-charged through increased costs to easyJet or Ryanair. I bet easyJet has complained so they can reject any any rate increases that Peel may want to pass on.
Their statement that no other airports ask passengers to arrive early when busy is false and the queues at their worst at Liverpool are fare better than what takes place at Gatwick, Luton and Stansted everyday. At Heathrow's Terminal 5 they won't even let you through security if you arrive less than 40 minutes prior to your flight departure.
Incidentally, the airport installed a sixth security lane two weeks ago to cope with the increase in passengers. The queues also appear to be longer at the moment as passengers are no longer allowed to queue on the stairs down to security due to HS & E reasons, hence passengers queuing in the pens in the former Cafe Ritazza area.

In an article in todays Echo, Easyjet have complained about pax missing their flights due to queues at security & have stated that more staff are required. I see that two aircraft load of passengers didnt board their flights yesterday because of the lack of staff at security of a lack of EZY staff and aircraft. The EZY spokesman from London that was quoted in yesterdays media was not around to explain last nights debacle, wonder why?

Ref. Reply 66 "passengers queuing in the pens in the former Cafe Ritazza area" . I may be cynical about the reason for passengers not being allowed to queue on the stairs. If you are heading to security and see people queuing in the former Cafe Ritazza area you will probably panic & pay for the so called Fast Lane. I think it a marketing ploy.

I too had problems last time out of LPL, Firstly a problem with the easyjet check-in online meant I had to wait by check-in desks **Easyjet had 3 staff on only to deal with all flights, 2 further staff were walking allong the lines calling out passengers who were close to departure time. Would have been better with all 5 on the check-in desks ** Once checked in the security lines were rediculous forcing us to pay for fast track which was also a farce as seemed to be well understaffed by staff working, various others walking up and down the lines asking people to take of shoes and coats and others just supervising as usual
Just as normal airlines blame the airport then the airport blame the airlines. Both need to work together or we will loose flights

The reason the EZY spokesman from London could not comment was because he was busy camping out on the moral high ground. Talk about setting yourself up for a fall, marvellous timing!
I imagine the screams would have been unmerciful from EZY had any actions by Liverpool Airport prevented nearly 600 people from catching their flights! ( have included the return pax in these figures as I guess they didn't fly either)

Easyjet sent up a team of officials to see LPL management re security and the queues.
They also witnessed the first wave of departures and found that the system (a system incidentally that has been in place for weeks, confirmed at last weeks FoLA meeting, something of which suggests the LDP&E story was from months ago) that the airport that is now being used brought about the quote 'happy the speed of the security line was back to acceptable levels.'.

Think you will find that one of her last acts at Guardian Media Group was to flog the Manchester Evening News to Trinity Mirror, owners of the Liverpool Echo.
