Nice collections,I too like airliner models but 144 scale some are corgi models some airfix some painted by myself and some are certifcated corgi models like the Danair comet 4 now very rare,my Danair collection will be joined by a 111/viscount and 748 soon, but then I will stop due to space, the usual modellers problems. My Danair collection 727-100/707-321/Avro York/COMET4/COMET4B/737-200. BMA 707-321 G-AYBJ some work still to be done on this baby. BUA Viscount G-APTB, this is a new kit just out in 144 scale but come with Eagle airways decals the BUA livery is my own work. Viscount of BMA/BUA and Cambrian. If anyone wants to see any more of my collection,Ihave some brits and comets, let me know.

Nice collection, but i understand the space issues, im running out of space for shelves so my collection wont be getting much larger. Im collecting some of the major american airlines and il post pictures of them once they've arrived. Especially like the BMA 707. do post the 748 and 111 im intrested to see those two.

Will do,but they will be a few months away, mainly due to changing jobs and travel, but I find making models very rewarding,so will get in the end,

As kids, me and my brother Phil had the whole British Eagle fleet - hand-painted from some pretty poor Airfix-style German kits if I remember rightly. Here's a line up of Britannias in our back garden!! ;D Cheers, Dave

;D Used to make loads of models-found the only way to store them was from the ceiling. If you had 4 younger sisters and a younger brother you would do the same .LOL Made dusting difficult and Mam was not keen but at least the fascinated sticky finger brigade was kept at bay.LOL
The line up of Britannias is a sight to behold-you couldn't do it again in colour could you. ;D
I found model making and collecting was a great way of aiding recognition of the finer points of difference btween marques. Sad that we cannot back this up with the old Observers books of Aircraft that I still miss and keep a collection of.
Interesting thread.

I have to say you do get a certain satisfaction from fleet building model collections, especially once you complete them, unfortunatly space starts to become an issue! Great fleet Dave. I also had a collection of airfix attached to my cieling in my younger days but i moved house and the majority had sustained some damage when up there so i lost most of them.

Yes, that's it they were Frog I think. Only transfers that came with them were RAF if I remember rightly. They were the wrong variant of Brit for British Eagle, but they still looked pretty good. We had Viscounts too (they came with Lufthansa transfers D-ANUN I think), plus we got 1-11s (airfix I think) We had a few hanging from the ceiling, the rest ended up in the garden shed - no room! Cheers, Dave

The Frog kit I remember came as a Britannia 253 with RAF air support command decals, but when Eastern Express released the kit they added a Cubana version as well,I have manged to acquire both off ebay,If I can get hold of an old corgi or a Whelsh models 144 scale Brit, I may paint it up as G-ANCF " New Frontier" will post pics when done, but probably not soon.

Dave
Looks like the Viscounts and 1-111's are in the background. Also, is that a 707 at the very end?
I only recall ever seeing one plastic kit model of a Britannia. It was about ten years ago in a pub on the approach (flight path - Winsor end) to Heathrow. That too was in Eagle colours. The guy who owned the place had thousands of models filling every available free place in the building. They served great food and the bear garden was a spotter heaven. I don't recall the name or exact location of the pub but no doubt someone will be able to enlighten us here.

Hi Steve,
Yes there are some Viscounts, 1-11 and 707 visible in the backgound. I have some more pics somewhere, but no time to look now as I'm going away soon and have other things to do.
Think we got the kits mail order - I'll ask our Phil as I'll be seeing him this week.
Steve - do you remember the model shop AJ Gulley in Garston in the 60s? They had all sorts. It was just off St. Mary's Road, in the same side road as the Discount Store and Co-op Funerals (Heald St?). Spent some money there!!
Cheers,
Dave
