We get 3 days to pay in Sydney if we go through a toll road with no pass. 24hrs seems harsh

Just picking up a few of the points made in this topic. Surely any driver making an unfamiliar journey would check the route beforehand? This is what I did when I used the Dartford crossing last year and paid for my crossings in advance. Absolutely agree. Hardly any press about it now, apart from a few trolls on social media and the odd 'hard luck' story from people who "breakdown" on the approach road only for the car to miraculously start working again when their passenger turns up. The longer you allow to pay, the more likely people are to forget. The period is over 24 hours - you get till midnight the following day so someone crossing early one morning for a flight at six am would get potentially 44+ hours to pay. I do agree that it should be as easy as possible for people to do that and the airport should be talking to Mersey Flow about setting up payment facilities at the airport. "Abhorrent". Really? The KKK is abhorrent. Child abuse is abhorrent. Tolls on roads are a nuisance and an inconvenience, so please keep some perspective. As for the difference between the Barton Bridge (M60, not M6 by the way) was fully funded and maintained by the Department for Transport, the new Bridge isn't.

Andy.. No, abhorrent is the correct word. Viz ab·hor·rent (ăb-hôr′ənt, -hŏr′-) adj. 1. Disgusting, loathsome, or repellent. 2. Feeling repugnance or loathing. I think the kkk or child abuse are bit more than disgusting. You're burying your head in the sand if you think the criticism of the Airport's drop off policy has fallen away. Read any page of reviews and it crops up time and again. Thanks for the correction of M6/M60. My mistake. Think I was confusing it with Thelwell viaduct. Actually that's another case in point. The difference I was referring to is that they are both roads over water yet one is fully funded by the DfT and the other is not.

In relation to the bridge 'penalty fees', everyone has their own opinion based upon their own level of experience and knowledge, or even how the written word is interpreted. Many people are tech savvy, many people have knowledge of the company running the bridge, of the penalty fee and many people have heard of the penalty fee in advance and have a fully charged phone whilst going on holiday. What is incorrect is the assumption that everyone, everywhere has the same levels of experience and knowledge,(or can be bothered with phones in this day and age). If only 1 per cent of airport users who use the bridge are surcharged, (and of course it could be a much larger percentage, or indeed less) then this will create anger for those so charged and they will inform their own network of friends and family or even contact the media. This may cause people not to use the airport because of the bridge penalty charges (I know other alternatives are available). But it could, possibly, have a negative impact on the Airport. As an example, the Free drop/off has been available at the airport now for quite a while, yet on a regular basis people contact the Echo and other media sources complaining of the Drop Off Charges, even though the free drop off signage is actually on the approach road. It may only be a tiny number of people affected, but they share their negative experiences out of all proportion. I know of several people having read about it in the Echo and believe it to be true. I have even mentioned to them that there is free drop off available, but because they have read it in the Echo believe it to be true, however laughable that may be. Its not the bridge tolls which is an issue, but the penalty fees. You can not blame people for ignorance of the fees.

O please O please administration.
Could you pleaaaaaaase close down this little old section.
It is now full of ignorance and conjectured opinion.
Its time has passed as a development section.
The nimby’s are here with the grumpy old men, it’s like the school playground when I was ten.
With the shouting of my dad is better than yours and look what mum made me for dinner.
You know there’ll never really be a winner. Just grumpy old men. who like to moan and groan.
That’s it I’m done. Time to bury this bone.
Oh!No look at me I'm a grumpy old man.

Yes, lets get back to TERMINAL/AIRPORT DEVELOPMENTS. I agree totally all this bridge/toll debate should be in the appropiate thread, it is dragging on and getting boring now.

In the early days of planning for this bridge we, Joe Public, were asked our opinions on payments. I pointed out that, if the bridge and the old Runcorn Bridge were tolled, then Merseyside and North Wales would be at a disadvantage. The four crossing of the lower Mersey all attract tolls while all crossings from Warrington upwards are free. The economic effect upon Merseyside should be evident to anyone - and everyone. Three times over the years I pointed this out but did not receive a convincing or fair reply. We now see how we, the travelling public, will be penalised.
i hate to say "I told you so" but I did. Why I have to pay to use roads when i already pay road tax baffles me.
Merseyside politicians should have been vocal in their opposition but were not. This would not happen in London.
Parliaments contempt foe the North was crystallised this week when Chris Grayling, Transport Minister, told the North to get on and pay for improved transport links themselves if they wanted them. And this after spending £15billion on Crossrail to save Londoners the inconvenience of changing trains. Try travelling from Liverpool to North Wales without changing trains. Not possible. In the case of the bridge we have been sold down the river - in this case the Mersey - by our Government.
