Oh crap that’s really not going to go down well. If there are no slots in KBP then little chance of getting another aircraft chartered.

This is really disappointing, and given that the Ethiopian flights were about the first that we heard of, I suspect something fishy going on here.

Can someone explain why they're using IEV so little? I know it's not a big airport, but I'd have thought that provision could have been made to handle more traffic, just as it has been at Liverpool. I imagine there will be a fair bit of business jet traffic, but even so, it seems remarkable when you have a city with two major airports that you can't issue slots for both of them.

Ethiopian were one of the last to be granted the CAA licence, so seems they just couldnt get things organised in time. It’s no easy task getting everything in the right place so far away from your home base.
For the fans, it will be devastating news, for the spotters, well, there will be the Ethiopian scheduled flights down the M62 from December if really need to see them.

Here's a screenshot of the arrivals board at KBP for tomorrow Loving the thought of Satena, based in Colombia, operating a football charter! EMB 170 anyone!

Just come up on the Echo's twitter site, that Joe Anderson and Vitali Klitschko are very close to reaching an agreement that will see all three flights "saved"!!!!
Not sure what this means in practise though!!!!

24/05/18 15:00 UPDATE – IMPORTANT UPDATE 24/05/2018 – CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL 26TH MAY 2018 Dear customers, With deep regret, we have had to cancel three flights to Kiev Due to so many flights going into Kiev, Kiev Borispyl has unable to allocate times for aircraft. We have worked extremely hard over the last 48 hours trying to resolve these issues. We have had Liverpool football club, Police, UEFA and everyone at the highest levels of authority trying to resolve this. We have exhausted all avenues to try and get landing slots. We have had them from Liverpool airport and Manchester airport and we have applied for slots in the correct manner and time frame with the authorities. To reiterate this problem IS with Kiev. Flight numbers affected and cancelled: 25th May ET8700 27th May ET8701 26TH May ET8704 27TH May ET8705 26th May ET8706 27Th May ET8707 ALL OTHER FLIGHTS ARE UNAFFECTED. You will have received etickets via email in the last week or so. At this stage we can only make a huge apology and are very sorry let you down on this occasion. We will be processing full refunds of monies paid as soon as possible, starting tomorrow. If you have booked online, this will be refunded to the same payment method. If you have paid by cash, we will issue a cheque. Load of B******s, it's what you get holding the final in a dump, and what about the fuel issues. I hope all the aircraft going have enough fuel to return home.

I was sort of hoping/expecting that Ryanair would come in as white Knights, in true O'Leary style, but anything would be great.

Not sure what this means in practise though!!!! Joe Anderson says 2 flights are to be reinstated with all passengers being accomadated on to 2 x A359's. Arriving Kiev 15.40 & 15.45 A third slot is availabe in the evening but Ethiopian not using it. Well thats how I understood it
