I am disappointed the aircraft availability could not have been managed over the total North West route network, even at a minimal level for LPL. Loyalty has to be earned. It seems from other comments on this thread, some loyal customers have been kicked in the teeth.

This is Lufthansa's explanation - I do think the earlier post about their new short haul division is more plausible. This also conflicts with the airport's claim that the route is performing well. Remember, after KLM pulled the Amsterdam it later emerged that while it as doing OK it was "cannibalising" (their word) their Manchester loads. The truth is out there somewhere!
"Lufthansa is continuously evaluating and optimizing its entire route network. Due to unscheduled maintenance work on Pratt & Whitney engines in the Lufthansa Airbus A320neo fleet, Lufthansa Airlines will have significantly fewer aircraft available next year 2024 than originally planned. The company has therefore decided to suspend some routes from February 2024 that have not shown a positive economic development in recent months. One of the route that is affected by this suspension is Frankfurt - Liverpool. Lufthansa regrets this decision. The cancellations will be published in the reservation systems on December 19, 2023 and passengers affected by cancellations will be informed and rebooked on alternative flights."

Lufthansa has dropped one flight a day from Manchester during January. This is our Munich Nightstop/ First wave departure to Munich. It will be back later in the 2024

Very disappointing, not only with this very late cancellation, but on the very same day I found out that our connecting flight in Windhoek had been changed so that no connection was now available on the day. I was close to cancelling the whole thing with Lufthansa and getting a rebate (which they did offer) which I would have used BHX-DOH-CPT which was actually cheaper than that from LPL, but due to various factors Ive now changed our booking to BHX-FRA-CPT which is a more direct flight. But because of the hassle and the very late cancellation (of which I haven't heard officially yet, but thanks to this site got the heads up). Hopefully the flight returns, but it has left a sour taste in the mouth and wary of using LH in the future. Maybe I'm just a jonah with long haul from LPL. My last long haul via DUB to Boston diverted to Connecticut and on take off again for Boston was subjected to quite a spectacular engine fire. Still fighting with EI for rebate under EU261.

I have processed my refunds on-line. I received an e-mail from Lufthansa confirming the refund and saying monies will be returned to the card used for payment at the time of booking in the next few days

On the last six months carryings when compared to the same period last year the route is 11% busier per month and thats with a 50% increase in seats.

At least then, you continue to grow the route, and not abandon all the support and good will.

11% increase in carrying is not very good if 50% more seats have been added.

11% increase in carrying is not very good if 50% more seats have been added. Its as a load factor. In simple terms and using a 100 seater (for ease and illustrative purposes) aircraft gives: 4*100 = 400 seats available @66% lf = 264 seats sold Increase the frequency by 50% gives: 6 flights 6*100 = 600 seats available @77% lf = 462 seats sold So using that, an increase in 200 seats (ie 50%) they sold 198 seats, ie they sell ALL the seats they make available.

A comparison for the period May to October:
2022 (service commenced in May) - seats=15884 and pax=10892 giving a load factor of 69%.
2023 - seats=24382 and pax=18847 giving a load factor of 77%. Seats up 54% and pax up 73%.

Q3 Lufthansa network load factor 83% so a very respectable average.
