Not many for me I have to say, nothing gets on my nerves, except: 1) feminists (bra burners) bang on about equality only when it suits them! 2) People who talk with food in their mouths 3) Women drivers who boast how they are better than men whilst they drive their 4x4 (on the husbands finance that he cant afford) with their mobile clasped to her ear while charging down a road then park on the pavement and zig zags outside a school 4) Soap operas 5) That Alan Carr, he makes me vomit! 6) Spotters that use their camera lense size as an extention of a part of their anatomy. Come on, you all know one, "look at me everyone!! my lense is the biggest on the AVP" 7) French cars 8) Feminists 9) Political correctness and postitive discrimination 10) female stand up "comedians" 11) Students 12) Big brother and davina mac who ever she is 13) Man United, their fans and twinkle toes Ronaldo. 14) Everytime I'm on a long haul flight the fat person next to me has B.O and flatulence 15) Feminists 16) People in the T.A ( part time doing it but full time banging on about it) 17) Standing near an Airfield doing my hobby and being looked at by the authorities and public as though I'm a terrorist yet Asian women can walk the streets, board planes, drive cars with their heads covered up walk around busy public areas. Anyone can be under that hood! 18) Teachers who claim they are over worked and under paid. If you dont like it then why join? Just leave the profession. Come and do what I do, wipe asses on 16 hour shifts on not much more than minimum wage. 19) Diesel/petrol prices 20)Boy/girl bands. They all seem to look and sound the same. All of them seem to wear make-up. Just a couple there. If I think of anymore I'll add them. Steve Haha ;D ;D. And those somewhat Cheeky Ba*****s that think this country is one huge CenterParcs and over stay their welcome if you catch my drift .... and come from countries that would be proud of a light bulb

Graham Norton, especially with Andrew Lloyd-Webber. All the corrupt Labour politicians. Unjustified taxation, especially on "green" grounds. People who call themselves and are referrred to by the media and politicians as bankers, who aren't and have defiled that once great profession. The UK Border Agency and their non-smilling, though too few on duty, some gestapo trained, employees....... Long Queues to get into the UK. Bad mannered and ignorant UK airport security personnel jobsworths. Blackpool Airport...it's bad management and their ADF/free parking con. Monarch Airlines cancelling scheduled flights to run MOD charters. Northern Rail. Liverpool FC and it's supporters. Chelsea FC and anything to do with it.
Beemer, the man you refer to is actually called Richard Cranium.

Ditto all of those and add---thieving swindling labour politicians who have been caught with their hand in the till.(must be all of them.) anyone who has the timerity to support the Lidl club on merseyside and will admit to it(only kidding about that one.LOL) Add those who have spent years downgrading the royal family because although I am NOT a royalist they are part of our proud heritage--head of the Church of England--chief of the armed forces-and could call a general election tomorrow and end our misery.
oh I forgot one--pillocks in 747s who think its smart to fly low over a city terrorised by rag heads crashing planes into innocent people. Smart one StObama.

EASA who are doing their best to price me out of flying.
The CAA who are doing their best to price me out of flying.
The ICAO who are doing their best to price me out of flying.
Airports with compulsory handlimg charges who are doing their best to price me out of flying.
All of the above and others who are doing their best to make flying for fun an elitist thing, purely for the wealthy.
Terrorists and Health and Safety maniacs who have turned the commercial travel experience from a pleasure into an ordeal.
...and all the things that everybody has mentioned.
(but I still love being retired, still love living in the sunshine.... life is pretty good.)

There's a lot to be said for the American system. Four year term max and a leader who can only serve twice. Five years is too long especially if a party wins three in a row as the Conservatives & Labour have both done. Most couldn't waite to put an end to Maggie & John's reign and now the masses want shut of Tony & Gordon's too.
Still, no matter what happens at the next election a Government will be voted in and regardless of what party runs it, we will probably end up hating that one aswell. Doesn't politics just about get up everybody's nose?
As Ron says, Isn't life great ;D

Changing the topic slightly -
If I were running the country (tongue firmly in cheek, but could I do any worse I ask myself?) these are the policies I would pursue - - Close the estimated £10-40bn of tax evasion and avoidance loopholes - Stop immigration for everyone other than those with desirable skills - All new cars used in UK to be physically limited to 80mph and with moderate acceleration - Remove the upper earnings limit on NI - Make jail sentences full term with extra time for bad behaviour - Life sentence to be to age 60 years or 20 years whichever is greater - Introduce hard labour for violent crimes (–building more jails?) - ‘3 strikes and you’re out’ for all crimes – then an appropriately hard sentence - Restore the State pension link to wages - Make APD a percentage of airfare and use it to pay for airport security - Heavy fine/points for using mobile whilst driving - Heavy fine/points for smoking or eating whilst driving - Introduce offence of crossing road whilst using a mobile - All Government and Council materials and contacts in English only - Nationalise the rail network - Nationalise water companies without compensation - Create ‘not for profit’ utilities - Replace car tax with levy on fuel - Remove tolls from road network (bridges and tunnels) - Re-instate Post Office network - Move emphasis from recycling to just using less - Scrap ID cards - Increase Inheritance tax to £1m - Cut MPs holidays from 21 to 8 weeks - Re-regulate Bus Companies in large towns and cities - Curb traffic cameras and stop them being used as cash cows (points not £) - Windfall tax on excessive company profits - Create manufacturing via series of 'National factories' – e.g. car - All unemployed given a job after 6 months in a National factory - Raise driving licence age to 21 with mandatory stop at 75, re-test every 5 years - Increase income tax to abolish TV Licence and VAT on Gas/Electric - Introduce road safety, first aid & CPR into school curriculum

Well said, Maverick. If you were my local candidate you'd certainly get my vote. One more thing though - reinstate a maximum wage for footballers !

;D Nationalise ,nationalise. Been tried ,doesn't work. COSTS the TAXPAYER a fortune--please read a little history before fanaticism for this fools paradise takes on any credibility.
Most of Maverics comments were superb and I applaud them but the dead hand of the state is not the answer.
We tried it and it failed miserably--and we were taxed to death on top of the inefficiency and jobs worth attitude nationalisation creates. Rose tinted glasses improve with age.Check out the realities and the winter of discontent--and Red Robbo etc.
Lets add a few comments to an otherwise excellent set of proposals.
Drug and alcohol affected drivers, non payers of road tax or insurance, Cars to the crusher as part of their punishment.
TB screening for all immigrants legal, and when caught illegals. I have a friend who sufers from this unneccesary and imported almost medaeval disease.
All illegals to be returned to their last exit point in the last counrty they left(that will not be very popular in france but it will certainly focus their attention)
Proportional representation to be introduced at a local level.
Hope this opens further a lively debate.

I must agree with Johns comments regarding Nationalisation. Having worked in the bus industry when it was nationalised I can safely say the traveling public are far better off now than they ever where then. The problem we face now is that the infrastructure has not kept pace with population explosion of recent years. I'm not sure of the true figure now but back in 1986 when deregulation began the population was about 55m. I think it may have increased by 10 - 15 million since then.
Although it's better for the public, I can't say the same for the workers. I like many others would long for the return of the pay and conditions we enjoyed back then.
Not sure about proportional representation being confined to the local electorate though John. Unless, you see that as a way of electing a single MP within a constituency rather than allowing the political parties to choose their own MP's from the total of votes cast over the nation.
Maverick, are you sure you don't want to enter politics. As you say, you can't do any worse and with a manifesto like that you'd be sure to get elected. But keep costs down by keeping things in private hands where ever possible. A little regulation is a good way of controlling companies but too much could stifle the free market and along with it innovation, motivation, and regeneration.

If look more carefully you will see I only advocate nationalisation for two industries - Water and rail.
Water - For a resource such water to be in the hands of a private company is unethical and just plain wrong. With no competition or choice of water company it isn't free trade or market driven - simply a money maker for the company shareholders.
Rail - Does anyone actually think the train network is better being fragmented in to lots of little companies all owning different bits of the infrastructure. Maintenance done by the lowest tender does not create a 21st C rail system.
Ste t mentioned buses; whilst I didn't say to nationalise, I do advocate re-regulation - after de-regulation we had a myriad of small bus companies chasing each other around on popular routes whilst abandoning the unpopular, but nevertheless important for the users routes. If the (Tory) Government thought de-regulation so desirable, why did it exclude London?
Two additional policies I just thought of -
- ban on wheel clamping (as per Scotland)( in fact, adopt most Scottish laws as most work far better than ours) - withdraw from European Union and make UK responsible for the UK.
