i would imagine that ryanair are paying something, even if it isnt much, to park their aircraft here at LPL. To be honest Ryanair have no respect for their customers, the last time I used them was in 2008, the outbound flight was delayed and customer service was not one of the important things for the crew. Coming back the plane stank of sick and they bombard you with as many adverts as possible. easyJet is a lot better, the service is first class and I have never had a delayed flight with them.

In an article in today's Manchester Evening News Michael O'Leary effectively rules out any further growth at Liverpool though he does say the base won't 'decline' either. Focus for the time being will be Manchester and Leeds Bradford. Liverpool it seems will need to start looking elsewhere for growth, but where? Considering the way ryanair have never shown loyalty and always played airports off against each other and closed bases at the drop of a hat thats a strange statement of absolute certainty for him to make, either made because 1) Whatever deal he has got with Manchester has a clause that Liverpool wont grow any more or 2) He is looking for a reaction from Liverpool, hoping the airport bosses come back with a ridicolous deal weighted in his favour.

I think we can assume that Ryanair will pay less than other operators at Manchester, so can we assume other lo-co operators are less than pleased , I KNOW Easy are.

so can we assume other lo-co operators are less than pleased , I KNOW Easy are. Here we go again?! For an airline that is supposedly not happy, by throwing more aircraft at the base and expanding at roughly twice the pace of LPL, if they are truly unhappy they have a funny way of showing it. They are even moving to T1 to get more room to expand FFS! In fact, how about MAN really pee easyjet off in some way, easyjet will probably base 5 aircraft in one go!!!!

I'm sorry, but the title of this thread is Ryanair Summer 2012, under Liverpool Airport Developments. There is a thread about Manchester RYR expansion under Manchester. Please stick to topics and, if people want to slag Liverpool/ Manchester / each other off then do it between yourselves and not on here....or you will be permanently deleted - and I don't have a LPL or MAN bias in that respect either I'm getting just a little sick of the chips on shoulders on both sides here, it ruins the intelligent conversations I don't know why I bother providing this forum sometimes. I give up

We are getting more and more stupid debates like this and it is starting to spoil the forum. After all it is a North West based forum. Can we not just stick to sharing info about whats due, logs, trip reports, photo's etc instead of getting into slanging matches which are solely based on opinions and not facts. It is bad enough having to plough through all the crap about bus routes or better still, take the debate to a bus forum ;D

I thought honest debate was what this was all about, recent DEVELOPMENTS at LPL are certainly worrying the lack of growth identified by MOL,the increase and basing of aircraft away from here the pulling of routes by Flybe, reduction of services by KLM, coupled with the predictions from the business quarter highlighting the lack of growth in the next few years at LPL does not inspire confidence. What we need to address is is the business plan of the owners really viable and if not it needs to be re identified, before the airport begins a decay into mediocrity,we need honest debate regarding the future of LPL and to quickly address the reasons why growth here is on the backfoot, yes i know the economic reasons are there but some airports are experiencing growth and for LPL thisn is worrying

What we know at this time is that, as Outermarker says, pax numbers are climbing Ryanair expect to pax numbers to stay as they are EZY to take out one aircraft in January but plan to start the summer flights on some routes earlier KLM are taking out one rotation much as they do every year in Jan/Feb

O'Learys comments came after saying he was looking at 6 aircraft for Manchester in 2013, and that they wanted to continue growth there as fast as Manchester airport bosses wanted it to without upsetting other carriers there.
There was then a quick add on where he said “One airport that clearly won't show more growth but won't decline is Liverpool.”, unusual for him to be so absolutely certain that an airport and its routes has no more demand for passengers.
That statement could mean that they feel Liverpool has genuinely reached its peak as an airport given its facilities and will stay stable at this level for many years.
Or thinking from a more cynical tone it could mean that they have an understanding with Manchester not to increase its presence at Liverpool so that it can increase its passengers back to its peak level, regaining in the words of their CEO, 'the passengers Liverpool stole from them'.
I cant stand Ryanair anywayand their general contempt for passengers wyho are treated like people they once offered a lift to work to but now wish they hadnt. I'd much prefer Liverpool airport bosses to be working night and day to bring other airlines in sowe arent so reliant on them and easyjet

34 Ryanair routes have now been loaded for next summer. Alicante, Poznan, Toulon and Wroclaw still have the dates listed in the timetable, so hopefully will appear soon. Girona, Rygge, Seville and Stockholm no longer have dates listed, so could have been dropped. These routes had a total of 11 flights last year. Hopefully they are to be flown by non-based aircraft. There are less flights at present on 7 routes at present, totalling 15 flights a week, but perhaps these will be listed later.

O'Leary said the base wouldn't decline so I suspect there are additional flights to upload and possibly some new routes to fill gaps left from any dropped routes...as the saying goes, time will tell!

Personally I am not that worried about Ryanair - liverpool is in the top ten in the UK and is 8th in england with other regional airports like Newcastle and East midlands behind it. Liverpool has got the second largest number of routes in the UK from ryanair (behind Stansted).

Thats a really good point - LPL would be much safer with some more airlines. Air Berlin would be good and a reliable tour operator.

One of the most difficult jobs in avaition these days must be the one responsible for bringing more traffic to Liverpool. To start with, the economic climate is bad enough but to have another top class airport just up the road, and which has finally woken up to the real world must make life really difficult. It was great to get KLM. Obviuosly what is needed is more of the same: not another succession of half baked enterprises like Air wales. Losing Eastern can be consided a major blow, for whatever reason. I wish sincere good fortune to whoever it is.
